Hi, Graeme456 the following applies to carbureted also fuel injected models and the usual suspects are:
1. Severely discharged or damaged battery, 9 volts or lower.
2. Failed alternator/generator and or voltage regulator.
3. Loose or corroded battery terminals and or cables especially the "NEGATIVE" cable, look for loose, corroded, or broken connectors inside the cable harness at "BOTH" ends.
4. Failed main circuit breaker or ignition switch, check for loose connections and continuity.
5. Failed system and or ignition relay, check for continuity.
6. Failed ignition coil, ignition/electronic module.
7. Failed CKP, CPS, CMP, MAP, TPS, or BAS sensor, corroded, loose or broken wire connector pins/sockets.
8. Throttle cables and or idle speed improperly adjusted hot idle speed should be 950 RPM to 1000 RPM.
9. Air/fuel mixture screw improperly adjusted.
10. Water or dirt in the fuel system, carburetor or filter.
11. Restricted, blocked or kinked fuel line.
12. Fuel tank empty.
13. Gas cap is not venting properly or fuel tank venting system blocked.
14. A failed fuel pump, pressure regulator and or fuel injectors.
15. Vacuum line from intake manifold to petcock broken, cracked, or not attached, carburetor vent line plugged.
16. Needle and seat stuck closed in the float bowl.

Idle jet in carb may be blocked. Carb will have to be dismantled and cleaned out.

Husqvarna 223l starts but quits before I can even get the choke off, then will not even start again. Has been great until this.

I can assure you it wont be leaking oil, as the only oil it uses is mixed with the fuel.

Lock throttle trigger on,
Start on full choke till it fires,
Switch to half choke and it should fire up on high revs,
Blip the throttle and it should turn to tick over.

If it still keeps cutting out it could point to a carb or fuel takn issue.

It should start easily, start with fresh fuel/oil, pump the primer as many times as it takes to 3/4 fill the bulb, pull the choke fully out, crank the engine until it fires once, push the choke fully in and crank again until it fires up, after re fueling a warm engine, pump the primer again until it 3/4 fills the bulb, before cranking the engine pull the choke fully out and in again( this will engage the part throttle ) then crank the engine until it fires up.

Choke problem

Hi, Cnizio if you take your bike to a dealer for a specific issue that costs outrageous amounts of money only to have the same problem 2 days later your situation is not unique unfortunately and it is a double edged sword. First, you suffer the emotional stress and frustration of spending all your hard earned "Drachma" and your bike does not get fixed. Second, comes the realization that not only are the technicians incompetent but also the service manager for not doing anything about it, this isn't rocket science, it's a glorified lawn mower engine with extra cylinders and carburetors sometimes. You need to put an end to all the double talk, dancing around the issue, and a we don't care attitude, but how you ask, very simple you exercise the "nuclear option" go back to the dealer and ask to speak to the owner or general manager if the owner is not there, then with a straight face and polite voice you ask him/her if they can provide you with the name and contact phone number of the person at your brand motorcycle headquarters in your country that can recommend a repair facility that will fix your bike because your local dealer either can not or will not. I guarantee you that is all the grease you need to get someone to light a fire under the proper persons rear end to resolve your issue "toot sweet" For more information about your issue and valuable "FREE" downloads that you will need please click on the blue links below. 3. Faulty main circuit breaker and or connections.
4. Faulty ignition coil and or connections.
5. Faulty spark plug, oil or gas fouled, wrong heat range or service type, wrong gap, loose in the cylinder head, broken electrode or insulator.
6. Faulty spark plug cables, leaking or broken, internal damage.

Pulled choke and power swith is on, keep trying to pull the cord and stll won't start, yes it has gas

hi , try this, take the spark plug out. and leave it out for awhile ,to dry out.1 hour, clean plug ,put it back in the machine.then take the air cleaner off, make sure it is clean for later, get acan of aerostart or starter fluid NOW SWITCH ON, CHOKE OFF THROTTLE IN START POSITION''''' FULL THROTTLE ,AQUICK SQUIRT OF AEROSTART INTO THE TOP F THE CARBY AND PULLTHE START ROPE 3 OR4 TIMES NO MORE ,THE ENGINE SHOULD FIRE OR START;;;; if it does not at least fire you may have to try anew spark plug,if it fires but does not start, pu ll the choke out 1/2 way and pull 1 or 2 times only or you may flood it again, giv it another squirt in the carby and try again but dont keep pulling the starter as you will get crankey when ite rope breaks .if it starts let it run for afew minutes stop it replace the air cleaner 1/2 choke pull the starter should go push choke rightin after a couple of pulls start it and go to work. Please if this doesn`t work come back and tell me what happened for we may have to make a couple of adjustments
