How to install choke cable on 400 Kodiak atv ?

Your information is on the ATV Forum

Throttle cable: remove the 3 screws on the right side of the carb, take off the cover, there is small rubber gasket (red) Don't lose it. you'll see the cable attached inside. move the mechanism forward like you're opening the throttle to get enough slack to unhook the cable.

Choke: on the other side of the carb, the choke cable screws in with a plastic nut (10 mm i think) unscrew with your hand, if its tight use pliers or wrench..its easy to unscrew it.

These atv's are belt driven. If you remove the right side crankcase cover you will see the drive belt as well as the primary and secondary sheaves. When you accelerate, there are weights in the sheave that move making the sheave grip the belt and give it traction. When this happens your drivetrain is powered. Sounds like you either have a worn belt, worn sheaves, or need to service sheave (usually just a good cleaning and re-grease the weights). The easiest thing to do is remove the cover and power the ATV and you can witness the belt engaging with the sheaves and probably will be able to diagnosis from there.

sounds like the shifter fork in the tranny broke or is bent and is not slideing the gears like it should. if your mechanical, the fix should be around $50. you will need to go and buy the repair manual for it. it will show you how to take the engine out and then "crack" the case to get to the transmission and the damaged fork. the manual can be obtained from your local atv dealer. just make sure you have a good set of metric tools and a impact driver.

Was riding and just quit running cant get spark yamaha 2002 yfm 400 atv 2 wheel drive

This is the order in which you should check the following
  1. Check fuses(If all are good,Continue down the list)
  2. Check for power from the stator while turning the engine over(If you have power continue down the list)
  3. Check coil (Check voltage input while turning engine over)(if no voltage continue down the list)
  4. Check CDI (The only way to test is to try on another atv of the same year and model)
Please take time to rate this fixya
