Question about 2006 Triumph Daytona 955i

1 Answer

The fan goes on at about 215-217 deg F. The temp. keeps rising up to about 218-219 F while the fan is working and after that the temp. starts dropping down to 215 F and stays there with the fan working. The ambient temp. was about 82 F /about 28 deg C/.If I keep the RPMs just a little higher, the temp. keeps rising

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

To my understanding, the cooling fan is activated by the ECM. This is done by switching the yellow/black wire to ground. The activation is triggered by the coolant temperature sensor that feeds signals to the ECM. Ideas to consider:

  • verify integrity of connections of coolant temperature sensor (purple/black & purple/green wires) to the ECM;
  • check, clean or replace the coolant temperature sensor itself;
  • bypass ECM and install a manual override switch plus dual reverse protection diode on the 2 yellow/black wires from the cooling fan wire connector.

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.

Causes:1- the 130 deg thermostat is open. 2- working thermostat, 104 deg, defective, allowing temp to rise.3- the machine becomes hot because the water valve is stock open. machine needs to be sealed so not to allow water to boil.Water boils at 100 deg Celsius. 4- valvolino or o-rings are worn out and leaking. You need a repair shop.

HP DV6700, power keeps switching off after 2-3mins from switch on. Fan does not come on and core temp rises above 90 deg. celcius prior to shutdown. Tried unplugging battery and power then holding power...

I have the exact same problem...only started 2 days ago...let me know if you find a solution. I wanted to clean it from the inside but you have to take the whole thing apart,and I am not comfortable doing that

Thermo fan on radiator not working

You should have 12V on the Brown/Pink wire in the connector plug - that comes directly from fuse #7 in the fuse panel.
Unplug the connector and verify you have 12V on that wire measured with respect to the battery negative terminal
Check the fuse for continuity.
The control for the fan is on the black/white wires which goes low when commanded by the ECM. The turn-on temp is 103 deg C.
Most likely problem is the fuse or bad connection in the fuse-holder.

My 94 Tracer temperature gauge reads between 3/4 and 7/8 in the normal range before the radiator fan turns on. I have already replaced the fan temperature switch and the relay. Could my temperature...

Yes, it is possible the temp. sender is faulty, but I would do a cross check of the actual coolant temperature vs gauge reading using a cooking thermometer in the top of the radiator.
Take care not to get scalded - check it at about 180 to 200 deg.

2000 jeep radiator fan

Hi micro0711, the fan (which I assume is electric) works off of 3 corresponding pieces of equipment: the rad,the thermostat and the coolant temp sensor so if you have a 180 deg thermostat the coolant would circulate through the engine and generate heat once the coolant temp reaches approx 180 deg the thermostat opens the coolant temp sensor signals the fan to engage removing the heat from the radiator cooling surface maintaining a safe operating temp. If you find your temp is rising check to be certain there is power to the fan and also that the thermostsat is operating,hope this helps good luck
