Dear friend-i do not think the oil comes from the hear gasket but rather from the distributor, make sure that the oil is not running down onto the head gasket and the shows as a oil leak from the gasket.

2002 Honda Civic EX 1.7. Most common issue with it.

The origin of the leak may be oil spilled form the Valve cover gasket job. With a warm, not hot engine, spray with degreaser and hose off the oil and cleaner. Leave to dry. Run car for a couple of days and check again.

Yes replacing the gasket should fix it as long as it isn't warped. Civics tend to get thrashed by young drivers, so you may need to get the head skimmed at a machine shop.

Oil in radiator overflow resivoir honda civic 97

Usually, the reason for oil in the cooling system is because of a blown head gasket or a leak in the radiator where the transmission cooling line passes thru. Brown milk is engine oil, pink is trans fluid if the car is an automatic shift.

1998 hona civic ran hot, leaking hose, replace, now car runs rough when first driving it,could it be a blown head gasket

look for coolant in your oil ,the oil will look ''milky'' if there is coolant mixed in it. if you have milky oil then you have a blown head gasket. if thats not the case then we have to look elsewhere. hope this helps

What is a blown head gasket and how can I fix it?

Your head gasket is a gasket ( usually 3 layers of metal and synthetic material) that is betwen the head and the block.
It keeps different systems in your engine seperated.

When it "blows" it's mean that it is ruptured and allowing one system to interfer with another i.e: Coolant system with oil ot oil with combustion or coolant with combustion.
Most common is coolant with combustion is which you coolant (antifreeze) leaks into a cylinder and burns with the gasoline when the engine is runng.
This is commonly seen as a thick oily white smoke coming out the exhaust with a definate smell

Replacing a head gasket is not a job for an inexperianced person. It involves removing the upper portion of the engine, eplacing the gasket and reassembling it.

91 Honda civic is leaking oil from a sensor located on the head is not the oil sensor the location of this sensor is on the left side of the head facing the fire wall

If the engine has an overhead cam it could be the cam position sensor. If the threads are leaking remove it wrap teflon tape on the threads and re-install it. If oil is leaking threw the sensor replace it.

I have a oil leak ever since i bought this car. I've changed the head gasket, front crank shaft seal, valve cover seal, and oil pan seal. Could using the old head bolts cause this? I've read that it...

NO if you have been using oil and loosing oil from all the seals and rocker cover and sump gasket then its caused by a thing called BACK PRESSURE,and that is caused by the piston rings worn, or broken top compression rings and a lip in the bore causing the ring gap to be about
6thou per inch causing the back pressure which in turn blowes oil out of all seals and gaskets ..
So take out the breather pipe from the rocker cover and let it blow into a paper towel for 2 minutes and if oil fumes come out the rings are worn.
Plus get a compression test on all cylinders and see if there down to 100 PSI or less.
The new head bolts should be replaced as they could be streached
threads, but not your problem this time
Let me know how you get on ASAP Ron

89 honda civic fails smog

bingles,,,have you changed the oilseals on the valve stems or used the old ones?these tend to harden after a few years and even a slight leak may lead to high emissions, also v,important did you use the old head gasket or replace it? always use a new gasket as an old one has already been compressed and may cause a cross-flow leak into one or all of the piston chambers.
hope this helps.
