First thing check the gas flow to the carb, next check and clean the jets, If it is starting and sound ok the idle jet is working but if under load it sputters it is possible main jet is not working well, Also you could have an air leak check all gaskets on intake side, Last of all you could have a leaky head gasket check compression, under load it could **** air through the head gasket causing inmproper combustion and it will sputter.
If this is something that just started, I'd check the spark plug and ignitions system first. Then move to the air filter and carburetor. Check the silencer in the pipe to see if it's clogged up.

Bought a 2002 Rm125 about 2 months ago, with a fresh top end....First ride was great with impressive power throughout. About two weeks later I noticed that it was missing some about half throttle , and just thought that the plug might be fowling a little or possible dirt in the carb...Started off next ride with new plug and fresh gas, but this time it started once but then wouldn't restart. Changed plug , gas, also checked plug for spark, but bike doesn't even attempt to start. Last night I tried using starter fluid straight into the carb, but even that didn't do anything ...I thought for sure that the starter fluid would get it to start, but it would just kick over a few times and backfire..Any ideas?
