My 2005 Yamaha R6 is overheating at idle...like sitting at red lights.. I wonder if its a temp switch or a blown fuse, or even a wiring problem. Any help?

If your cooling fan is not switching on then i would check fuses then if all fuses are good check for 12V at you cooling fan when temp gets between half and 3/4 way to hot . if you have no voltage it could be a temp sensor or relay . if you have voltage there your fan motor has gone bad and needs to be replaced . another thing to check is the hoses running to the radiator . let the bike idle and warm up and check the temp of the radiator hoses . if one is much cooler than it should be then you might have a bad thermostat on your bike and its not opening enough to let coolant flow at idle. water pump could be going bad as well. if the bike warms up and fan does not kick on untill you rev it up a bit i would check the thermostat and waterpump

2001 yamaha r6 overheating

Check your ground wires, that can cause a fuse to blow..Make sure the replacement fuse is same amperage as the original....the fan on this is only supposed to run at low traffic speeds right? you shouldn't need it at highway speeds.. Good luck to you friend....Tim
