You mention a "ticking" sound,,is this from the top or bottom of engine..?
Does the ticking go on acceleration or increase with engine speed..?
A ticking noise from the top usually indicates camshaft/valve noise..
Run your engine until at normal temperature, then turn off and leave for 5 minutes for oil to settle..
Make sure your car is on level ground and check your oil level..wipe dipstick and check it again, make sure you push the dipstick all the way in an re check oil level. Top up if necessary.
The best thing to do is remove old oil filter. Drop the old oil and fit a new filter, top up with new oil, run the car and check oil level again, top up if necessary.
Low oil and old oil can wear thin and cause ticking noise from top of engine, and will also NOT PROTECT your engine...oil is the blood of your car, check levels weekly at most and change every 12 months or as recommended by your car booklet.. Use the BEST oil you can afford.
If you are changing the filter as well as the oil, start with 4.
Run the engine for about 5 minutes to check for leaks, check the oil level, and then "top it off" with another 1/2 to 1 quart of oil.
If you did not change the filter, start with 3 instead, and then do the "top-it-off" above.
The oil light will come on with low oil pressure (it is most likely a faulty / blocked sensor). This could be a simple sensor fault or blocked pick-up or a problem with your pump. I would get it checked out - if the oil pick-up needs to be replaced or cleaned the sump would need to be removed. A quick visual is to open where you top up the oil and see if you can see no oil at the top of your engine if there is very little or none then it is definitely the pick-up and don't drive the car as you will cause wear. If you start your engine you should see oil "sloshing" in the top end - again if there is none then there is no lubrication for the top end.
Dodge ram 1500 5.7 hemi 2007 check. Engine light. Came on through a. Code. P0524 sayn oil pressure. To oil but oil light. Never. Came on runs. Good. U think. It's. The. Sensor
Hi there? check the oil level. if there is no oil in the engine, it will make it nock especially at the top end.
If the oil level is ok then start the car and remove the oil top up lead and check if there's any oil coming up to the top of the engine. it should pray oil out of the hole. good luck..
HAVE YOU CHECK YOUR OIL LEVEL? OR OVERHEATED THE ENGINE, CHECK THE ENIGINES OIL LEVEL, YOU MUST OF LOST OIL, RAN LOW ON OIL OR YOUR OIL PUMP GAVE OUT. IF THERES KNOCKING OIL NOISE, THATS NOT GOOD AT ALL. ASLO WHERES THE KNOCKING FROM TOP OT THE BOTTOM. THE TOP IS LESS TUMPING THE BOTTOM IS HARDER TUMPING AND SOUNDS HARDER WHEN ACCELARATED. LET ME KNOW. CHECK THE OILS CONDIOTION FOR GLIDERIN THE SUN YOU SEE THE RESEDUE METAL GLIDERING. IF SO THE MOTOR IS MOST LIKELY SHOT.
NO the engine oil only tops off the engine it self and the gear box uses a different oil and to top it off and check is different from the engine dip stick. Good luck and your manual should tell you when it's time to service your gear box oil.
Fuel in Cylinder Is CAUSED Most Likley BY THE MISSFIRE Check Spark at that Cyl. & Correct that. ALSO Fuel in oil Breaks Down Viscosity of the OIL so I Would Eliminate the Fuel in OIL Problem First to Determine if No Oil Pressure in top end
first you want to check to see if there is the correct amount of oil in the engine. then you need to check to see if the oil is getting to the top of the motor. you can do this by looking into the valve cover from the oil filler or the vent. If your not getting oil to the top of the motor you need to replace the oil pump. if you do have oil in the motor and its getting to the top of the motor then you need to check the oil sending unit wire if its good and tight then I would replace the sending unit.
