Sony vaio vgn-nr285E battery won't hold a charge

If thelaptop battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out.Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles andwill lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% andgradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR Thebattery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the batterydrops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to anunacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced.

My "sony vaio vgn txn15p"

if your Sony is older then 3 yrs I urge you to get a new battery. Make it last longer by draining the battery and charging it up everyday. This gives it a work out and helps it not get lazy.

Sony VAIO VGN-FE770G only runs on AC power, battery not working

This looks like the system is not able to sustain itself on the battery power. I have a doubt here. Is it a new or an old laptop. Either Case we have to suspect the battery charging and battery condition. One another reason could be that the battery contact is not good. But this could be of the least chance as the manufacturing of such devices would be perfect in all standards. Lets check the battery power first.

A sony Vaio never operates if the battery is not detected or the battery is not charging, while the system is up and running, you can see a small picture of the battery in the system tray which is at the right bottom corner of the screen. Run your mouse over the same and you will find a tooltiptext message and you can see if the battery is charging or not. If not, your hardware has a problem. If its charging but the battery charge is not increasing, then you have a battery problem. If its a battery problem and that the system is under warranty, you can well get a replacement for free. Hope this resolves the issue. Good Luck.

Sony Vaio vgn-fs640w does not power up nor does it

I went to the Sony Vaio support site for your model specifically and they mention a battery recall. There is a place on the site requiring specific information about your system and your battery to see if you are eligible for the recall. I would try this route to see if it resolves your issue. If not, I would say it is a blown transistor and you need to replace the motherboard. This means buying a new system, as Sony VAIO laptops are very proprietary and hard to find parts for.

Good Luck,

Battery shows full charge, but when unplugged drains within minutes sonny vaio vgn-n220e

Battery most likely has dead cells, the live cell that is still working is showing 100% but does not enough juice to keep the computer running by itself. You need a new battery.

Sony vaio vgn fs 830 w

A quick search has revealled there is a 6 cell battery with higher amps than the original amperage at http://www.topmicrousa.com/sony-vaio-vgn-fs830-w-battery-6-cell-4400mah-black.html

Try this and check to see what amperage your battery is in the computer you have (The more amps in a battery usally means the longer it will last
