As long as the bike has been well maintained it should be ok it might need a top end service,if you are thinking of buying it take a screwdriver with you put on the engine when it is warm to see if you hear any excesive ratterling top end rattle proberly means a top end sevice bottom end dont touch it

All ZXR400s use the same throttle cables

Adjusting time chain tension

Its possible your tensioner is worn out , this could be detrimental to your engine.
Best advise would be order new unit from Cradleys Kawasaki UK and get a qualified bike mechanic to fit.
