Problem for Honda 2005 VTX 1300 R

07 vtx 1300 leaking gas when bike is started

I started my 07 vtx 1300 C this afternoon after like 3 weeks and all of a sudden I see gas dripping down on the floor from the engine. Bike starts and keeps running idle but is leaking gas. I called Honda but this VIN is not in the recall. What could be the issue? How can I fix it without taking it to the dealer? please help

You need to pull the gas tank off and find out where it is leaking. I would say it is probaby something simple like a loose clamp on a fuel line.

The fuel cut off attaches simply to the tank. There is a large nut which needs to be tightened. You cannot mis it if you look under the tank.

the float it one of the carburators is probably stuck open. Use the handle end of a large screw driver and firmly tap on the carb several times from each side of the bike if possible.
