Tranny overheats in reverse with heavy load lost some fluid.

C6, seem to me the shift linkage is bad.
loose or bent or cracked or messed up, some how.
it has reverse lockout , that fan not be broken

if super brave, on jack stands all 4 wheels. off the ground.
I do this in safe place , 2 persons, one does not leave driver seat running.
engine off
linkage dropped of c6 left lever at the casing
put it in Reverse by hand
Emergency brake off. now.
start engine. (if p/n lockout fails bypass it)
now look at rear tries. spinning reverse. 2nd person, afar.
key off fast, brake back on ,
This is hold my beer even but if brave.... and a safe place,
try not to back over the Rolls-Royce
very dangerous. for the folks who can not see the lever links short stroke the box link what else can be done?(simple)


transmission pump port PSI checked sure.
buy the shop manual and see this, it is there;

Better check your owners manual and ask your local Honda dealer service person, before doing so. CVT tranny has been annoying for many with them, as they seem to fail and require rebuild too often. The tranny is always shifting for best gear so it may overheat fast especially if it came with no heavy duty tranny oil cooler that is like a radiator but smaller, to cool the special CVT tranny fluid.I wouldnt try it, but check with the manufacturer dealer , Honda to confirm my guess its NO.

Better check tranny asap. look for burned smell in tranny fluid.should be a light red. dark or almost brown indicates breakdown of fluid and a failing tranny.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but it sounds like you either lost your torque converter or the forward seal on the tranny most likely do to an inner pump problem. All this adds up to a transmission rebuild unfortunately.

maby it could be anything just take it in and have a certified tech look at it.

replace tranny filter and fluid, do not do tranny flush, could cause more problem. just filter and fluid change

Sounds like a tranny rebuild to me. It's not brain surgery but have someone helping you the first time you try this. Might just be easier to get another tranny from a bone-yard.

new tranny or get the one you have rebuilt,,,,,,,

just have someone look at it. like aamco or someone that does a free diagnostic. the tranny will probably have to be rebuilt.
