SOURCE: honda CB 250 1998-will not start, just clicking, battery is ok

Hi, Your problem lies with the starter solenoid, although you maybe using a fully charged battery to jump it, it appears to be sticking or possibly faulty due to trying to start with poor battery.
The starter solenoid is usually located on or near the Battery compartment, it is cylindrical and has two heavy wires attached to it 1 goes to the starter motor the other to the battery. If you are carefull you can by pass the solenoid by touching the heavy wire going to the starter motor with the jumper lead. Make sure the jump battery is connected and both the NEGATIVE leads are well secure. Put the NEGATIVE lead from jump cable direct to a engine mount bolt or engine itself Not the battery.

SOURCE: after motor work starter runs when power applied

sounds like starter solenoid is staying energized sending continued power to starter. need to make sure you plugged the right wire from the starter button and not another hot wire w/ fulltime hot. also if thats ok need to test for power turning off to solenoid when releasing button. if thats ok try tapping on solenoid. lastly, make sure your positive cable from battery is hooked to starter solenoid, then another hot cable(longer) hooks from solenoid to starter, if you hook long hot cable directly from starter to battery, starter will continueous spin.

SOURCE: Honda V45 magna won't turn over

if the starter is jammed, you can probably get it up on the center stand put it in top gear and **** the rear wheel back and fourth. that may do it. or jumping the starter itself may do it.

start relay should be checked, if cables are loose or corroded they do not deliver enough power.if jumping the start relay will engage the starter replace the relay.

Greetings Gurus. I have Makita charger model DC18RC, battery model is 18v BL1815...manual is of limited help. I'm trying to understand what the indicator lights mean, what the time is for charging,

I agree that the pictographs are not very helpful. You probably have one of the new chargers. I have an old one, which is a little easier to figure out.

From top to bottom

1. The flashing green light with the electric plug indicates that the unit is plugged in and ready to go.
2. The flashing red little fan means that the battery is too warm so it is just cooling it and not charging it at that moment.
3. The solid red empty battery outline means that it is charging but hasn't got very far, less than 80% full.
4. The mostly full battery outline with both solid red and green lights at the same time means it is 80% full or more
5. The full battery outline and solid green with the musical notes means it is full up.
6. The broken battery outline with flashing red and green means you've got a broken battery.
7. The yellow light with the wrench means the charger is "conditioning" the battery, whatever that means.
8. The yellow light with the fan means "cooling abnormality."

Hope this helps

I'm afraid your batteries have expired. They will show full voltage but the Amps are not being replenished.

'09 Harley Sportster replacing the ignition key tumbler. Its a 3 wire consisting of a solid red, red w/gray, and red w/black. Which one goes to the ON, ACC, and OFF positions?

I don't know but I do know how to find out. Off is no position. One of your wires will be hot all the time, it probably connects to the battery or to the battery side of the start solenoid. Check it with a volt/ohm meter. Note its color. On the start solenoid, you will probably find 4 wires. One FROM the battery to the solenoid. One FROM the solenoid to the starter. Both these wires will be heavy. Two more little wires - one you ID previously provides signal to close the solenoid, the other is a ground.

So You have ID the power wire and the signal wire (closes the solenoid when you turn the key). The third wire is your "RUN" position

1995 t-bird v8. Starter will not crank, clicking noise coming from possible relay behind right headlamp. Battery is good and lights are bright no dimming when key is turned

The Ford V-8 they use in both Crown Vic and T-Bird are good for losing the solenoid to the starter. Replace that first before looking for a new starter.

Do you get a clicking sound? If so it could be the battery or the starter. If not then its the starter solanoid (relay)

Won t start after sitting for two weeks

check the starter, starter motor and the starter are one unit. just under nearth the battery. make sure the red battery wire is tight. and the black ground is tight to the chassis.
if you don't hear any clicking sound, the starter is bad, need replacement.
if you hear clicking sound then look for the starter module. mounted on the side of the distributor.
these are two most problem area.
if it still don't start, go to zcar.com or 300xcar.com
they should able to give you most place to look.

good luck
