If you dd not torque the front sprocket down correctly you could have an issue. If this is a new noise then be concerned, if this has progressed over time, then it is more than likely just the bike loosening up. Which is normal...but loud, could this be pre-detonation, did you make the correct adjustments to your MAP? Check you push rod adjustment with the bike cold, I mean Artic overnight not running cold.

I am not sure why you did not consider the reply more helpful? Have you checked your pushrods to see if they are in adjustment? Have you put you bike on a dyno and made sure you have no "knocking". Did you you check the pistons and or cylinders to ascertain if you have piston slap or bushings that are out of specs. You did not say how many miles you have on the build, if it is 44K then why haven't you checked both jugs, instead only the front (which usually last the longest)?

If the SOB soulds like it is falling apart...then it probably is! Tear it down split the cases put new bearings in, new cylinder studs, cylinders, pistons, etc. and do it right. Just don't give a single thumbs up to someone when you don't bother to identify where the sound is coming from exactly, when it happens, when it started, etc. Are you sure it is actually an engine noise? Check your front calipers to make sure they have not worked loose.

All in all you gotta be more concise with your description to get more granular replies. Of course if you happen to be a RUB just take it to the dealer and drive the BMW for a while.

2005 ultra classic low oil pressure and making tapping noise. Is changing oil and filter likely to be a fix? Just got the bike a week ago has 25000 miles

The engine is sensitive to oil weight and quality of oil due to the valves lifter being hydraulic lifters. Yes changing the oil could help. Lifter may have failed. Oil pump my have failed.

2007 Ford Escape Hybrid Clatter Noise

So being it doesn't clatter in electric mode, a safe assumption is the noise is with the gas motor.

Usually a clattering noise is valvetrain noise, like a lifter not pumping up.

Low oil will cause this.

3 quarts low would probably definitely cause this!

You need to find out why you lost 3 quarts in only 80 miles!

I have a 2003 HD Heritage EFI (12k miles)... I have noticed when the engine is idling it sounds fine. When I am at highway speed (65MPH & 5th gear) I have noticed a loud intermitent clatter. at low...

Sounds like valve clatter, a common issue. We chased the same noise, with HD installing new push rods, adjustable rods and then they said it is a Harley. Not a real answer. This noise ruines the ride as it grabs your mind and focuses you on the noise. We tried different rod extensions within the lifter adjustment range, same deal. We chased for about 1 1/2 years, trying to not void warranty.

The only long term solution was to go to aftermarket (velvet touch) lifters and lifter blocks. Now we NEVER hear the issue.

1995 isuzu Rodeo engine noise

valve guides worn and tappet adjustment required, can check tappet adjustment first to see slightly better before removing heads and getting valve guides repaired/replaced on heads common problem
if raise revs to 1500-2000rpm and hold does clatter come and go come and go (valve guides) if there all the time tappet clearance issue
if there only under load (1st rev up) for a couple of times then stops possible big end bearing
all these are common for this engine
