To have silver oil coming out might indicate a problem worth looking for.Silver is usually aluminium.Maybe a spun bearing or bush?If the oil was milky silver, water seal and possibly a g/box prob.Hope this is a good starting guide for you

there is not many bolts to take the motor out.To work on it on a bench at a good height worth the time to take it out.You get to work on all sides, can spin it around when you need to,and can see in every little nook and cranny. You will see things that you wont,if the motor is in the frame.Do it once and do it right and easily

My 2001 yz250 is leaking alot og gear oil when idoling out of a hose coming out the bottom of the bike then wen i shut it off it starts leaking coolent out of another line coming out the bottom of the bike...

The leaking coolant is a sure fire sign that you likely have a blown head gasket or your water pump is not pumping water any longer and the bike is overheating.

The leaking oil could be coming from your power valve vent - is it pitch black oil and is it coming from the front of the engine?

What color is the oil? Are you sure its gear oil? Is the gear oil milky and foamy? Is the gear oil level high or low? Is there water in the oil?

Sorry for all the questions - there are several things that could be happening here.

I sank my king quad 300 and water is now in the block. can i just drain it and let it dry or must i take it all apart and clean it

As you are probably aware, oil and water don't mix, they form an emulsion and the oil no longer lubricates yet coats everything with a dirty off white goo.
I would strip the engine down and clean everything. You may get away with heating the engine parts to evaporate the water but I wouldn't recommend it.
Sorry but if you want a bit more life from the engine, strip it down.

Bike has been standing for 3/4 months started straight away but gears feel stiff could this be that the oil needs changing

Start the bike till running temp is reached .while the engine is hot ,change the oil and filter.take great care not to burn yourself .When the engine is hot you will find the oil drains away much faster and all the old stale oil will drain out of the engine & gearbox & clutch ..Once you have replaced the old oil with new oil and filter .this should cure the problem of stiff gears .

Smoke coming out the exhaust when giving gas

Assuming you have the correct amount of oil in the gearbox, the piston rings may be wearing out.

Suzuki bandit sticky gearbox

Stop riding the bike until you change the gearbox oil and oil filter. Yes, the oil is probably the problem. I am somewhat surprised that the pistons haven't seized yet. On the bottom or lower side of the gear box there will be an oil drain plug. Drain the oil and put in new oil. The oil fill hole is probably on the right side cover near the rear of the casing. The plug will probably have a dip stick to measure the oil level. Put in 10w40 motor oil. Ride the bike for a few hours then drain the oil to help flush out the dirt and grit built up in the gearbox. Put in fresh oil and a new oil filter if the bike has a filter.

Your bike is 18 years old and parts can be difficult to find. Your bike probably has an oil filter. If so, it desperately needs a new one. Google " vintage suzuki motorcycle parts " . I can not find a free service manual online. You may be able to buy one at

Gear/clutch problem

does not seem like the waterpump. is the clutch set too loose?
usually in wire based clutches, if the clutch cable is set to be too loose, or if it is frayed, and needs replacement, the bike will jump and stall.
check that.
