If carburation is fine.... then i would start with the pulse generator coils or spark unit.

So you can race the engine in neutral, and no problem with it trying to die? If that's so, I think you need a clutch job. A clutch disc contaminated with oil or grease will cause jerking and slipping.

My Magna idles well. Carbs are clean and pretty well balanced. Before the re-build, the carburetion was spot-on, all the way to redline. 140kph+. Now, it won't pull in the top two gears. 5th gear is...

You can't enrich the mixture to suit the mid range only .One thing you can try is to up grade on your main jets ,but this will alter your air intake volume and the air will have to be adjusted to take in the extra fuel ,if you take this route then you will need to get hold of a carb balancer kit .But one askes the question what has been done or not done to change the engines performance ?.Have you tried running without the air cleaner unit fitted to see if this improoves the bikes performance .If you find that the engines performance is better then its possibly an air intake problem .

Loss of power

Clutch slippage would be a possibility. While rolling in 5th gear mid-range in the rpm band give the bike a lot of throttle. Do the rpms rise significantly without the speed of the bike increasing? If so you may need a new clutch or possibly just new springs. If you have put any oil additive it is possible your clutch friction plate(s) became contaminated.
