Ignition Coil Test

You may need to use a jumper wire between the threaded part of the plug and the cooling fins. You don’t have to bend up the electrode.

If spark present put a small amount of mix in the carburetor. Does it at least try to start?
If yes you most likely have a fuel delivery problem.
If no any number of problems. Try your friendly neighborhood chainsaw shop.

Start Procedure
Cold:

  1. Ignition on/off to on
  2. Set compression release – optional step even if saw is equipped with a compression release
  3. Pull (close) choke, set fast idle (done when choke closed on some saws); pull starter and listen for an attempt to start. once heard (usually two pulls)
  4. Set compression release – optional step even if saw is equipped with a compression release
  5. Push (open) choke pull starter until it starts. (usually first pull)
Warm:
  1. Ignition on/off to on
  2. Set compression release – optional step even if saw is equipped with a compression release
  3. Pull (close) choke, set fast idle (done when choke closed on some saws) - Don’t pull with choke closed.
  4. Push (open) choke, pull starter until it starts. (usually first pull)
Hope this helps
Lou

You need to clean out the carb. possibly replace the Needle Valve and check the Diaphram for stiffness. Also check the fuel line for cracks and rott.

My husqvarna chainsaw wont start

Try bypassing the switch by connecting the two wires together. If it starts then you know what the problem is.

My Ryobi 4545 Chainsaw started but would not tick over. Now won't start at all.

Check your anti kick back bar across the top. If you bumped it forward will not start.

The chainsaw starts easily. But the chain won't move at all.

Sounds like the chainbrake has activated, grab the hand guard and pull it firmly back to the top handle, until you hear an audible click as the brake loads, now try again.

3 month old Husqvarna 235. Refuled. Won't start. Plug is firing. Primer bulb gets full. Still won't start.

These machines have had issues with main bearing cages breaking up, this it turn scores the piston and snags the ring in, if there is a good spark and the plug is getting wet i woud whip the muffler off and take a look at the piston through the exhaust port.
