Question about 1981 Suzuki GS 750 L

1 Answer

Oil and fuel leaking out air filter housing, won't stay running Starts rough then dies as it warms up (with in 2-3 mins) looks like fuel and maybe some oil leaking out the air filter. a friend said it could be a gasket or blow back valve, but couldn't explain what gasket or why, or how to fix. Took apart and cleaned carburetor, problem remains.

Gasket not possible the thing it could be is floats on a carb is too low so it is filling with fuel and leaking out off carb back through the air filter the way to test for this is to clean the airfilter and just leave the bike for a couple day then go see if the air filters is wet again get back to me once done

95 safari van 4.3 starts and runs but after 10 mins when its warming up it starts running rough and dies.it acts like something is breaking down.has good fuel pressure and tune up and still the same

Hello Danny,
Do you have a check engine light and/or any fault codes?
If so, that would be useful to assist with diagnosis.
Try checking the EGR valve. Depending on mileage, these will fail and cause a rough idle and decreased performance especially at operating temperature.
If engine has recently overheated, then check your coolant for traces of oil and/or oil for traces of coolant or excessive moisture. Once engine is at operating temp, a blown or failing head gasket can cause rough idle and misfire.
I hope this helps.

Have 82 ford truck f150 runs for abut 5-15 mins than dies getin gas chang full pups two times same thant runs and die

Hmmm...maybe piston ring failure, valve seal failure, rich air/fuel mixture or maybe a head gasket (however that is normally white smoke due to coolant burning instead of oil). If it's so dark that it's almost blue then I can tell you that somehow oil is getting into the cylinder and burning alongside the air and fuel. Your best case scenario is that the engine is running rich (Rich:Too much fuel, Lean:Too much air) and the smoke is a dark grey to black color. CAUSES OF SMOKE
