3 Answers

My honda 1100 ACE just stopped running. Now, when I turn the key in the ignition, nothing happens. The lights, horn, turn signals, and starter will not work. I cheked the main fuse and battery and they are both fine. What should I check next?

How familiar are you with the Piaggio MP3 ?

For the electric starter to operate, not only does the ignition key have to be turned to the on position AND the ENGINE STOP SWITCH

be in the RUN position .....

BUT you must also APPLY REASONABLE PRESSURE to either of the BRAKE LEVERS.

On another note, the MP3 has an IMMOBILISER
There is a TRANSPONDER CHIP in the IGNITION KEY that is detected by the bike's "security system" and the CODE in it is read and compared to the one stored on-board.

I've never tried to start a MP3 with a key that has the wrong code or the transponder chip missing, BUT, if it is the same as my car (Ford Mondeo) the STARTER MOTOR DOES NOT TURN - NOT EVEN A CLICK

97 sportster the odometer light came on and nothing else, no oil light, neutral light, head light and it didn't do anything when I hit the starter button. But the horn worked fine normal loudness

Hi Dolphnl, and the usual suspects are:
1.Ignition/Light Key Switch not in IGNITION position.
2.Engine Stop switch in the OFF position.
3.Discharged battery, loose or corroded connections check negative cable at both ends. (solenoid chatters).
4. Bank Angle Sensor tripped and Ignition/Light Key Switch not cycled to Off and then back to on.
5. Starter control circuit, relay or solenoid faulty.
6. Electric starter shaft pinion gear not engaging or over-running clutch slipping.
7. Security alarm not disarming
Good luck

1988 Doge Ram will not turn over.

check your starter relay in the power distribution center. if you are not getting any crank. with a test light or dvom you can check the small signal wire on your starter solenoid when the key is in the crank position there should be power on this wire. it sounds like you are not getting signal to the starter from the ignition switch

Turn signals stopped working

The problem is that your flasher relay has burnt out. You can locate this by simply flowing the wires from the turn signals.
