I can suggest a few things. There may be a fuse or fusable link between the start switch & starter. Also there may be a safety swith that is not working properly like: bike in gear, kick stand down. hope this helps.

Replaced battery on my 2006 Ford Escape. Still won't start but everything else works

Figure by everything else you mean the radio, lights, etc? Is the engine turning over? What happens when the key is fully engaged? If the engine does not turn over the first place to look would be your fuses. Ensure that none look to be burnt or blown. If so replace and try again. If fuses look good Next step would be to ensure starter connection is good and starter is turning over.If the starter is not turning over then I would focus on it.Hope this helps.

1993 ducati 750ss 12.5k on the clock not starting clicking noise from possible starter relay but turning motor over battery is showing 12.35 volts with all lights/horn etc working ok anyone have any ideas?...

Sorry should your thread say clicking but not turning the engine over? A battery may show a 12volt dc voltage on a meter, but not have enough amperage to turn the starter-engine, when you press the starter with the lights on are the lights affected, do they go dim or remain unafected? At the starter solenoide with the ignition turned off bridge both the thick starter leads with a pair of insulated pliers, care must be taken not to make a spark, so pliers on and the engine should turn over, if the engine does not turn over then it is likely the battery has insufficant charge or the starter it self is not working, you should next try a new sorce of power, power pack, or jump leads from another battery before making your asesmant, on purchaseing a new battery, good luck paul

I have a 2005 Jeep Cheroke Larado. It will not start at all. When you turn the key to start it, it wont even crank over. It does'nt make a sound, but everything comes on. Lights, radio, ac, horn still...

If it's really not the battery (lights and everything CAN work, even when it doesn't have enough to click the starter). Next would be starter.. but you said you changed that out. I would look at the engine ground wire next (follow it from your battery to your frame and to engine block). Or just the battery wires in general. I am assuming you have tried to clean the battery and terminal connections - they should be nice and clean - no corrosion. If not, clean them with wire brush, sandpaper, or I have also scraped them clean with a flathead screw driver.. good luck

My lights and everything power is working, but the car won't try to start i turn the key but nothing happens no sound no nothing gtrying to turn over even with jumper cables hooked up,

First check fuse #7 in the engine compartment fuse box as well as fuse #37 in the cabin fuse box.

Next, is your security light on? If yes, the problem is your anti-theft system probably not recognizing your key.

If fuse is good and no security light, next (assuming you have an automatic trans) try moving the shifter while you hold your foot on the brake and the key in the start position. This is a check on the adjustment of the safety interlock. If this doesn't work, you might also want to try shorting the terminals in the interlock by pulling the connector off and putting a paper clip in the connector terminal and shorting the brown/pink and tan/red connector terminals together to see if that will let the car start (the interlock switch is on top of the transmission where the cable attaches). This will tell you if the switch is completely dead.

If none of that works, check the relay in the engine compartment relay box by the battery. Does it click when someone turns the key to start? If not, pull out the relay and interrogate the socket for the command signal from the ignition switch (see my post here on how to interrogate a relay socket:
First check all socket terminals with a test light. There should be 2 hot terminals in the relay socket with the key turned to start. If there is only one hot terminal, replace the ignition switch. If there are 2 hot terminals, try swapping the relay with the horn relay. If that works, buy a new relay.

If none of the above resolved the problem, probe the other 2 terminals (the ones that weren't hot in start) in the socket. This time, connect your test light clip to a hot point. One of the 2 terminals should light the test light brightly and the other one dimly. If neither terminal lights the light brightly, you are not getting a proper ground signal from the PCM, indicating your security system may be activated.

If all of the above is good, try jumping the solenoid. (see test 2 in this post:

If that works you know you have battery and starter for sure. If not, replace the starter.

Let me know if you have any questions at all. I know this is a very complicated set of instructions. :o)

My '97 Geo Metro LSi will not start. When I turn the ignition key on the buzzer, idiot lights, lights, horn, etc., everything electrical will work. If I turn ignition key to start, there is absolutely no...

It could be the starter, test the small wire going to the starter, it should have power when turning the key to start/crank. If it does, and the starter will not crank the engine, whack it with a hammer, if it then starts, replace the starter. If there is no power to the starter, then it could be the ignition switch, or the neutral switch, or a fuse/link blown.

1985 190e Engine turns over, won't start

when the car ignition is turn on all accessory lights should lite up telling the computer everything is in good contact. If none of the dash lights is not lighting up you don't have a good ignition contact and computer is not getting any power. your stater will crank and turn the engine over only but the fuel pump and ignition module and other accessary is not turn on, the car will not start. What turn everything on is your computer, computer; control all items like fuel pump, sparks etc. You have to get all dash light working again in order for computer to turn on. Check all the fuses and relay under the hood, next your ignition switch in your steering wheel may be faulty allowing only starter to work and not others. this unit wear out and common problems to all cars, parts is 35 buck to replace and you going to have to take the steering columns apart to get to it. Not easy but it will take time. Get all the dash light working and you will be back in the game. good luck and hope that help some

You need to establish that you have 12v in the battery and that all connections are clean and secure. Lights horn etc do not give you voltage verification...your starter uses more amperage than anything else in the car. Once you are certain that everything is OK, check for 12v at the small wire on the starter with the key turned to start. If no volts, check the neutral safety switch or clutch switch Then check ignition switch for power in/out.

Caddy Deville wont start

Check the gear selector switch. You may need a Chilton's book to find it. Try starting in neutral.

Troubleshoot the starter. If your battery is good, then you WILL have power...the lights will work, horn, etc, but....if the starter is need a starter.
