I have a 1998 polo and am having start up problems if left standing more than a couple of days, new batter installed a couple of months ago, any ideas???

Hello There,
If you installed a new battery it should hold the charge. Unless, your car has a higher than normal drain current (extra load permanent from the battery). An approximate way to figure out that is to watch the battery terminal when you connect the cable. If you see significant spark (between the battery post and the cable end, more than once touched to each other) or the best way to measure the current value with an amp-meter. After the meter was connected the current from a higher value should settle down less than 50 mA, called parasitic drain.
If this measured current is higher, you have something turned on (interior light or anything) or a failed component. The alternator could be at fault too. If you are able to disconnect all wires to it, and no change in the drain current value, it means the alternator is O.K.
The next thing is to pull fuses and watch the meter. At some point the current must return to the expected range.
Good luck withe the procedure!

My john deere la125 seems to be drawing power wile shut down, it take a week for the batter to go dead, i've pulled the batterer and it stays charged up , I've checked the charging unit and i

What you do is power off the machine, and disconnect the negative battery cable. Put a test light or volt meter between the battery negative terminal and the disconnected negative battery cable.

You will likely have a light or voltage reading...Then you start disconnecting things....I suggest the alternator.

When you have the correct component disconnected and the test light or volt meter shows no current.

If this component is the alternator, they have diode sets inside (or somewhere else in the charging circuit) Typically one diode fails and this causes the draw that you describe. The system often still charges, but at a slightly lower capacity with the failed diode.

Is changing the battery in this notebook as simple as merely sliding in the replacement battery?r

You are correct

1) Simply shut down your laptop

2) Disconnect it from power

3) Remove the Old Batter

4) Slid in the New Battery

5) Connect power

6) Now you should be ready to go but its always best to give any batter a bit of a charge before you use it

7)Then Switch it on and your good to go

Hope that Helped

My car wont start I changed my water pump n now my car wont start

It is a good idea (recommended) to disconnect the battery when working on electrical components. If you disconnected the batter, make sure the battery cables are secure on the terminals (clean terminals if necessary) - apply a terminal grease to prevent corrosion and acid build up. Also, check the connection on the alternator - it's very possible this may have been disturbed or disconnected by accident during the installation of wires. Part of your message says "my car won't start, I changed my water..." did you change your water pump? There may be a crankshaft and/or camshaft sensor near the water pump. Make sure that these are plugged in and secure. Check your ignition fuse in the fuse box, the starter relay(under the hood) and the fusable link, next to or near the battery, or starter. Check all electrical connection that may prevent the vehicle from starting.

Purchased new battery, now NOTEBOOK won't work on battery after full charge

Better you first charge the battery for 16 to 17 hours and recheck the same. If problem persists, change the battery from where you bought it. that battery is faulty. And yes there is no need to install the battery from device manager. Just open the battery compartment and replace the battery with new one.
