Question about 1993 Suzuki GSX 600 F (Katana)
Starts ruff and idles up and down. I am very mechanically inclined and want to start to learn how to repair my own bike. How do i take carborators for 1993 gsx 600f
First i would change all spark plugs to...NGK#8 medium duty plug .next replace (fuel filter)... i replaced my carb bank and its a big job so try this stuff first:
Purchase some "Seafoam" you can get at the local Autozone for $10. Pour in about a 1/3 can into two gallons off gas get the bike started and get on it hard to work the stuff through the carbs....i had a bad hesitation problem on my bike and it took about 10 miles tell it spit out what ever was clogging it up....told a friend at work because he had an idle problem and he said it worked also..he no longer has to sit at a light now and keep reving his bike to keep it from stalling out. Next, check all your carb and emmision lines to insure thery're on solid and dont have cracks in them, i found one that had come off...this will also cause idle to go up and down a lot too. My main moto is: if it works dont mess with it, unless you absolutely have to. But to remove the carb bank you"ll have to take off the seat, remove battery lines, remove fuel line to fuel filter, remove tank bolts and tank assembly, remove airfilter and airfilter housing, remove push/pull throttlecables and loosen up all the hard rubber manifold boots...i had to use a lot of wd-40 and screw drivers as pry bars just to try and lift it out. and after about two hours of fighting/wiggling it it finally came out! Took off the #1 bowl, set it on the ground and heard something rattling around in it ,it was the main jet, it just fell right off into the bowl....that explained why i could only get it up to 8000rpm and no more power. i just decided to take the rest of the bowls off and clean all the floats, pilot jets and just make sure everything else was secure. Also cleanup or install a new air filter and check your chain and sprockets.... if you can pull or lift the chain off the rear sprocket and can see daylight between the two then you definately need a new chain. use standard (non) o-ring DID or RK it"ll get you an extra couple ponies...oh and if you do decide to clean the pilot jets remember to count how many rotations clockwise until they seated very lightly...so that when you put them back in you snugem up lightly then back them off counterclockwise the same ammount of turns.
can i get a feedback on this...thanks!
