Question about Harley Davidson FLHT Electra Glide Standard Motorcycles

New battery in bike.....but starter is not moving. solinoid and starter wont move. all i hear is a relay clicking.

What year is the bike? What (exact) battery did you put in? Was there a problem before you put the battery in? If so, what kind of problem? What shape is the bike in? How many miles? Did you rewire? Did you do it yourself? Let me know so I can better diagnose the problem.

try cleaning the start button inside the housing as weather gets in and could be a dirty contact ! check the earth contacts around the engine also ! are the wires to the solinoid in good condition , battery wires also ?

Full power to whole bike push start only light clicking


Either starter relay faulty or solinoid. Solinoid will give quite a loud click. Check the small terminal on solinoid for 12 volts while pressing start button. If present then solinoid suspect. If absent, then starter relay or wiring issue.

Audi just stopped while driving, tryed too start it and it wont start


READ THIS ALL BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING
NOTE: some vehicles have the starter relay and starter mounted together as 1 unit. Sometimes the starter relay and starter are seperate. When I refer to "relay" it could also mean the starter and relay as 1 unit.
Note: "starter switch" is not to be confused with "key switch", although sometimes they are all one unit. The starter switch is usually mounted on the steering column and actuated by a metal rod. On units that are all one unit, the keyswitch/starter switch (both one unit) will have to be replaced. (this is a rare problem, so don't get worried just yet)
1. Check battery voltage, should be between 12.5-14.5 volts. if low voltage replace or charge battery, and try to start car, if it don't crank with new or charged battery, move on.
2. Check connections on the starter relay, even the small one coming from your starter switch. if loose or corroded, clean with a brush and reconnect them. Try to start your car. Did it start? if not, Move on
3. Well now we know the connections aren't the problem. How about a click? did you hear one? If a click is heard, go to #4, if nothing is heard, go to #5
4. Well at least the relay is clicking, but nothing else is going on. The relay is working, so the starter must be bad. Replace the starter and start your car!
5. Humm, connections aren't the problem, maybe the relay is bad, replace your relay with a new one. Move on
6. Now we have a new relay, with clean and tight connections. Start your car. Does it start? If yes, then HORRAY! we fixed it. Does it click? If so then goto #7, If it don't click, then goto #8
7. So here we have a new relay, with good connections that will click when trying to start the car, but nothing else happens. Starter is faulty, replace the starter, and off you go, see ya!
8. So here we have a new relay, with good connections, but it still won't click when we try to start our car. This means that your starter switch is faulty. Replace starter switch and try to start your car. Vroom! finally done with this car problem!
List of shortcuts: if you remove the starter switch lead (small wire) from the relay and apply +12v to its respective prong or lead on the relay, and your starter cranks, your starter switch is faulty. You can actually hook up a starter button this way. If you jump the two large wires together on the relay and it cranks, then the relay is faulty. If you jump the two large wires together and nothing happens, then starter is faulty, or wires to starter are loose or broken.

My 2003 Pontiac Sunfire wont start or turn over. I do have power.

Car warms wont start

2007 kawasaki ninja 650r. when I goto start the bike it makes a clicking sound but wont start. the clicking isnt from the starter it comes from an area by the battery.


Sounds like your hearimg the solinoid clicking, basically it makes the connection from the start button to the starter. It's often mounted right next to the battery as well. Now if your sure the battery is good and fully charged fallow the positive cable from the battery to solinoid, from solinoid to starter motor, and check each connection is tight and clean from corrosion. Also fallow the ground from the battery to the frame check for the same. If all look up to par, jump start the bike from a battery charger or vehicle with cables. If it starts, recheck the battery voltage.

2001 626 won't start just clicks multiple times


unfortunately sounds like faulty solinoid on the starter motor, youll need to replace the starter motor or if you handy just the solonoid on the starter motor, but for ease and assurance of problem fixed i would replace the hole starter motor, hope i have been of some help.

Tried starting my 1999 dodge ram 2500 diesel but wont turn over.


If your positive and negative terminals are clean, both ends... not just battery, you should hear your starter relay click each time you turn the ignition key to 'start'. If no click, check connections to relay, If still no click, relay may be the problem. Assuming your battery or batteries are charged and you only here the click of the relay and no starter action, good chance the starter solenoid is in poor condidtion, or history. An indication of this problem is the starter would work intermittently and finally quit working.
Its an easy cheap fix. First disconnect you positive cable on the battery so you don't fry yourself or anything expensive. Remove the starter. Undo usually four bolts that hold the starter case together and pull it apart. Its always a good idea to pay attention how it came apart so you put it back together the same way.
The starter solenoid is just an electrical contact switch that conducts high amperage to the starter motor during engine start. The contacts in this switch burn out over time. When you pull the starter housing apart, you will see that the solinoid contact switch is installed within the hump on the side of the starter housing. You will quickly see if the solinoid contacts are burnt or damaged. Most auto parts stores have a whole collection of contacts. I paid 3.85 Canadian for a set that didn't quite match the set in my 95 dodge cummins. 20 minutes of filing saved me the $600.00 my buddies were paying . "Rebuilt' my starter about 5 years ago... and starts every time. Hope this helps someone out.
