1983 Yamaha Seca 750 no spark

HI Experts! I just brought home my 1983 Seca 750 from the local bike shop and they cleaned the tank from rust and rebuilt the carbs and rode it home, been teaching my son to ride it everyday and let it sit one day and won't crank up. Solenoid good, starter good, but when I pulled the spark pulg and held it to the cylinder no spark, fuel and compression but no spark any ideas? Thanks for the help.

Check the battery should be 12V or more , Then check the coils the connections are under the gas tank make sure they are securely connected.
What kind of fuse box do you have? The glass fuses? Or did you replace the fuse box. If it is the glass fuses you need to replace with a new fuse box.
Check the kill switch and the side stand switch.
Check the coils too..

Have you cleaned the tank, fuel can cause steel to rust, drain carbs and blow the jets out. Then make sure you change (or fit) the in line fuel filter, they are cheap and easy to replace and save problems like this.

1982 Yamaha Seca Turbo (XJ650LJ) Had the carbs

Mine was stored for 20 years, I ended up replacing the seat and needles, cleaning them thoroughly and when I tried starting it, nothing!! No gas was going to the carbs, it turned out to be my gas pump, it was seized by the old gas remains 'varnish' so I had to clean it numerous times, soaked it in gas cleaner (short period at a time 15 minutes or so, being a very powerful cleaner, you cannot leave it for long without causing greater problems, thus I was able to get the pump going by boosting it with my car batterie, having more cranking amps directly to the pump, the pump was able to release itself from the old crusty varnish.

I had the same problem before when I got my bike. I was trying to start the bike and always giving throttle. I figured just start with choke on and it starts (do not give any throttle).

the only thing i can suggest, is a sticky needle and seat, if fuel is coming out the over flow, then the float is not shutting off the fuel running into the carb, it has to go some where, so it comes out the overflow. Pressure in the tank wont have any affect at all with your problem. I would take apart the carby again, and check and clean the needle and seat.
Hope this helps

1991 Honda 750 Nighthawk...been running great. Hadn't ridden it much last 30 days or on it tonight, noticed a sluggish throttle. Initially, there was slight black smoke coming from the exhaust....

carb. needs to be rebuilt sounds like trash in the float body or in the needles try using some sea foam in the gas tank (if u get it to start again) it has probably fouled out the plugs
