Make sure that you take the side cover off of the motor and get the bottom timing mark in the right location. Then you can take off the top cover, I am assuming that it is a double overhead cam, then place some marks on anything that you are not sure of on the cam spockets to chain. There should be vivid marking on the spockets, but make sure that the sprockets are marked well since you don't want to get the valve timing off. There should be a master link on the chain that will come off. If you have to move the chain around to find them just make sure that the spockets go back to proper place and do not move the cam or crank once the chain is off. You might want to place a rag under the master link when you take it off so that nothing drops into the motor. The best advice is to go to the dealer and get a manual. They still carry them for that year.

Well, first of all, if you've never done this before, then don't. It can be costly and get complicated and will require someone who knows what they are doing. Some cam chains can be replaced by simply breaking the old one with a chain breaker and hooking the new one to it, then pull it straight thru the engine until the joined end shows again. Then you'll have to remove the cam keepers, in order to get enough slack on the chain to join it. Then the cams have to be timed again with the new chain to the crank. If you do either step wrong it could get very costly. Believe me, you don't need valves going down when the pistons are coming up after you try to start it. Especially, don't try to start it with the starter or kick starter if it has one. Put a wrench on the flywheel bolt and turn it in the appropriate direction and hope to God it doesn't go tight.

Good luck

How do i change the cam belt on a 2007 bmw r1200gs adventure motorbike

There is no cam belt. Cams are chain driven and you have to remove and strip the entire motor to change the chains.

Cam chain change

If you do regular maintenance on the engine and do regular oil changes there will be no regulatory period for the chain to be replaced unless it becomes noisy and is affecting the performance of the engine.

Does the 2000 silverado v8 have a timing chain and if so at what milage should it be replaced

yes the silverado's have timing chains, just about all v6's and v8's have timing chains, and timing chains should not be serviced, unless you are having problems with a timing chain guide or timing chain tensioner

I am in the process of changing timing chains on a 2005 suzuki boulevard c50t. I was wondering what the maximum stretch of the chains are. I am thinking it might just be the tentioners too. The weird thing...

The cam chain it stretched, just like a drive chain. It should not have any tight spots, or loose spots. Replace the cam chain and look into aftermarket cam chain adjusters like APE. Chaz Moto DC

Jaguar X-Type cam belt

These are chain driven. The only issue I have seen with these are the chain tensioners breaking. Generaly with chain driven engines, the chain will last the life of the vehicle, unless something like the tensioner or guide brakes. If it does break repairs can be fairly expensive.

Cam chain

That is an extremely difficult engine to work on regarding the chain. There is on thing you can try is to change the tensioner for the rear chain. You can access it from the passenger wheel well, it looks like a big nut from the outside. Get a new tensioner screw and replace it. if that dosent work you will have to remove either the engine or the transmission to gain access to the chain itself.
