1989 mustang gt starts revs really high then dies

Sounds like the idle control valve. The same thing happened to my Mustang and that was my problem.

Dont start

Trouble shoot it by removing the airbox cover and air filter; squirt a shot of carb cleaner down the throat of the carb, with the choke open and everything in the run position try and start.
If it tries to start or starts and runs for a second that rules out an ignition problem and points toward a fuel issue.

I am leaking oil out of a little black box what is it called ?

I am guessing you mean the little black box that holds the air filter. The box is the air filter housing. Chances are the oil level in the gearbox is too high. And chances are it is too high because the oil has a lot of gas mixed in it. The gas can come from compression getting past the rings or from the fuel valve on the gas tank not getting turned off when the bike is not being ridden or from a bad fuel valve letting gas pass even though the valve is turned off. A bit of the excess oil/gas mixture gets carried out the gearbox vent tube and into the breather chamber, (PVC valve), then into the air cleaner housing. I suggest you do an oil change and do it as needed to eliminate the problem. Alternate to that is a top end job for $750 or so. But first check the fuel valve to be sure it is working properly. Please rate my answer. Thanks. tombones49_176.gif
