Sounds like a similar problem that i would only go up to 8k and i could not get it to go past that sitting at idle either. well i took the carb bank out and started taking off the bowls to clean them and in the #1 bowl i heard something rattle..i looked and it was the main had fallen you might have a carb problem, or possibly a weak fuel pump but, change fuel filter first thats quick and easy.
can i get a feedback..thanks!

It is very difficult to tell if the air filter is blocked by just looking at it. You should follow the servicing schedule that Yamaha suggest, change the filters when Yamaha suggest, a blocked air filter may give the symptoms you have experienced.

This doesn't sound like an electrical problem. It sounds more like an air leak between the carburetor and the cylinder. Air that has not gone through the carburetor makes the fuel/air mixture lean. This causes the engine to run super fast and hotter as well. Check all rubber fittings and seals between the carb and the cylinder. Be sure the clamps are tight and all mounting bolts are tight.

If is runs better with full choke, then the bike is lean, check for air leaks at the carb manifold, vacumn cracked hoses, non standard exhausts, perhaps the mufflers have rusted out while sitting

My CBR600f2 hesitates and then surges during acceleration

sounds like the plunger cylinders in the carbs are sticking. Spray them with wd 40. it wont get pulled off them by the vacum and it wont foul out the plugs.

I tried adjusting the air mix ratio screw but it didnt seem to do much with my problem . i put the bike up on my bike jack to see what rpm it starts to cut out and it starts around 6000

Thats in the mid range of the rpm's so I got to say that you have something in the carbs that are making it do that. You need to take the carbs off and disassemble them and clean them real good.

'94 Suzuki Katana idling at 6000. Can throttle higher, not lower

You have a vacuum leak most likely. Check the carb boots first, then the lines off the carbs. You may be missing the caps for the vacuum connections also. Make sure your slides are returning to their rest postion also.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Offhand, I would suspect an airleak on the airfilter box, most likely the seal between the air filter bottom housing to the mouth of the carb. Might as well check for a vacuum leak on the rubber coupling from the carb to the intake manifolds. Pls check for craks on the coupling wall. It would also be worth your time to check the mating of the rubber coupling to the carb as well as the clamps.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa. Happy Holidays.
