I have a Suzuki Boulevard S50 and i have changed the solenoid because i thought that was the problem but it wasnt. every time i hit the switch to start the bike all the lights dim but the bike wont start

The starter button is supposed to turn off the lights during the start. The new solenoid means that is OK. That means the starter is the problem. Tap on the starter with a plastic hammer, back of a screwdriver, etc., if the starter works now you just need new starter brushes. If the armature is shorted, the end cap bearings worn, the magnets broken, etc. then you will need to replace the starter assembly. Only the brushes are available as spare parts to fix the starter.

The contacts in your starter solenoid are burnt , dirty, or just not making a good enough connection to activate the starter. If you bypass the solenoid and the bike starts normally, then you just need to replace the starter solenoid.

The electric start does not work at all... the battery is fine, i think its the starter but i dont know where it is on the bike

Follow the positive cable (biggest wire) from the+ side of battery to the solenoid.Continue from there on the other big wire and it will take you to the starter.

To test the starter place he bike in neutral. Jump from the positive terminal of the battery to to the big wire that is connected to the starter. Use heavy gauge wire or it will burn up
Do not clamp this test wire on.
If the starter does not work its bad. IF IT DOES THEN THE SOLENOID IS BAD.

BE CAREFUL and Good Luck

Check to make sure the battery is fully charged and that the fuses are all good. If you push the starter button and the solenoid clicks, the button is good. Take a wire and jump the two posts on the solenoid or touch the two cables together, if your starter works, then you need a new solenoid. If you hold the starter button and tap on the starter with a plastic hammer and the starter works you need new starter brushes. Anything else wrong with the starter and you need to replace the starter assembly , unless the manufacturer sells replacement parts so you can repair the starter. most manufacturers only sell replacement starter brushes but no other internal starter parts.

Same problem here ... 2008 C90T ... dealer no help ... in 3rd or 4th, ignition off, force it to roll backwards until you hear the piston shift ... should start then. Told it's the rear piston stopping at or near top dead center, but also told adjust the decompression will "solve" the issue; anyway, a rolling forward-start in 4th will work, too, otherwise try rolling the bike backwards until you hear, and you will know when the piston moves and then it will start.
