Check valve cover is it leaking oil. clean up the engine real good....i use chemtool B-12 carb cleaner.. wear gloves and don't breathe the fumes and if it gets on the exhaust, you"ll see smoke come off the pipes, so let it dry up before riding and wipe the exhaust pipes real good...now ride the bike and see if you see any smoke...when you do, pull over and take a look to see where its coming from...it could also be coming from a leaking exhaust pipe gasket.

Replace the air filter. Might also be the timing but start by replacing the filter first

4g15 engine carburetor smoking only when engine is cold

smoking from where?, front of car, middle or tail pipe.

is this your first car, or first car and first winter (white steam?)
there are 3 kinds of smoke
black , carb flooding (ask why)
white, oil, burning, take for ever to go away
white steam, goes away fast and smells like Antifreeze, sweet and nasty.

and all carbs smoke black in the tail pipe end, when cold, unless
you very carefully tune the choke plate.
so do tell? what?

When first starting up smoke comes from exhaust and makes a loud noise

Black smoke is excess unburnt fuel. Blue smoke is oil being burned, if blue the valve stem seals may be allowing oil to seep down over night.

1999 chrysler cirrus engine is smoking

i would start with washing the engine down with a degreaser the smoke could be old oil burning off then if you still have a burning smell you will know its fresh you can get a dye from a parts store and with a black light you can trace the leak

New exhuast plugs wires jetted carb stilll getting smoke from one pipe ,from front jug ,but bike runs excellent. any ideas

What color is the smoke? If the smoke is white, it's oil smoke. If it's fuel, it'll be black smoke.

Generally, black smoke from the exhast indicates a too rich mixture for one reason or the other. You said you rejetted the carb. This could be part of the problem. You also said that it's only out of the front pipe. If you rejet the carb, it effects both cylinders. If you have a vacuum leak on the rear cylinder, this could cause the front cylinder to run rich.

If the smoke coming from the front cylinder is white smoke, you may have a oil problem. It could be rings, a valve stem seal, or a head gasket leak. But, unless the smoke is heavy and the bike runs good, I wouldn't worry about it. If it bothers you, have a leakdown test run on the engine. That should tell you where the problem is. Or, just do a top end overhaul on the engine and be done with it. Have a new set of rings installed or have it bored and new pistons if needed. Also have a valve job done on the heads. This should solve the problem as you'll have to replace the intake gaskets when you take the intake and heads off.

Don't just keep throwing money at the problem. That gets expensive and is only successful part of the time. Anytime you have a problem with one cylinder only, whatever is wrong is confined to that cylinder. Anything that you do that effects both cylinders is usually useless. I would suspect a valve stem seal on your bike. You didn't say how many miles you have on the engine nor what type of carb you're running.

Good Luck

Fuel filter on picaso 2.0 litre diesal engine

Black smoke from a diesel engine does not mean you have to change the fuel filter. It is caused by the air filter being dirty. That you need to change.Anyway if you want to change the fuel filter it is located at the front middle of the engine in a black plastic round case with notches around the top.Good luck hope that was helpfull.

Cavalier blowing out black smoke car idles fairly well considerin

Black smoke is usually unburned fuel. P0171 reads bank 1 system too lean. There isn't one answer. You need to dig further and inspect your cars fuel system, from the pump to the injectors. Because of the mileage you may want to start off with a compression test just to see where you stand with the motor. write back if you have any other questions.
