Most likely a broken or stuck shifter fork. Unfortunatlly you'll have to take the entire engine and transmition apart to find out.

Hi, Jon #1&2 are jumping up and down waving red flags yelling "Pick Me Pick Me" otherwise the usual suspects are:
1. Faulty wiring to any safety switch.
2. Safety switches loose at the mounting point.
3. Faulty kickstand safety switch.
4. Failed kickstand safety switch circuit diode.
5. Stretched side stand spring.
6. Side stand not coming up far enough to disengage switch.
7. Faulty clutch lever safety switch.
8. Faulty neutral safety switch.
9. Clutch not properly adjusted.
10. Clutch plates sticking, forward lurch

I have a RF Suzuki 600R 1993, cant get it to start. Is their a logic reason?

it has interlock system between kickstand gearbox and clutch.
No you don't have to be sitting, in neutral with kickstand down it'll start,
in gear, with clutch in and kickstand up, it'll start

Hi, is it possible you have removed the gear lever at any time? And replaced it with the rod below the gear shaft instead of above the shaft as it should be , this would make 1st gear rite up instead off 1down, if this is not the case, and you can select all the gears from 1st to top gear, then it may be that the neutrol locating pin in the end of the selector has broken or even the end plate.bolt on the selector has just come lose, other more seriouse problems include worn selector forks, or broken circlips etc

My bike starts and idles in neutral, but when i shift to first gear the engine instantly dies. I think it might be a clutch problem. What is your advise?

You more than likely have an issue with the kickstand switch or clutch lever switch. A lot of the time the bike requires you to have the kickstand up or the clutch in when you go into gear, i would check both of those.
If it is an issue with the clutch the bike would lurch forward when put into gear, is that happening?

I started my 2006 suzuki gsxr 600 for the first time since fall and it starts fine in neutral but as soon as u put it in gear it shuts off. The kick stand is up and it will not start in any other gear but...

check the kick stand switch...it sounds like it sticking out....so even when you put the kick stand up the switch is stuck out....so the engine wil cut out as it thinks kick stand is still down....give it a spray with wd40...or something like ....but work it till it no longer sticks.......

I just started my 2006 suzuki gsxr 600 for the first time since fall and it starts fine in neutral but as soon as i put it in gear it cuts off. The kickstand is up

Sounds like your clutch is stuck on [not disengaging when you pull the leaver]This can happen over a long storage-no use period. To fix put the bike in 3rd gear and start the engine with the clutch lever pressed[caution the bike will want to surge forward so keep your foot on the brake]Make shure to have the engine up to normal running temperature before you try this fix.the engine firing along with the brake pulled will release the sticking clutch plates. This will work!!!

I have a Suzuki Katana 600 that shuts off when put in gear. I want to check the kick stand switch and neutral switch but don't know where they are?

the neutral switch is inside the gear box, but the side stand can be seen from under the bike, the best way to check if its the problem is to pull both wires off and sort them out with a split pin or jump lead of some sort its more likley to be the side stand causing this problem as its a safty idear,,,
now who drives off with the side stand down,,,,,,me?

Starts fine. sounds fine but dies upon putting it in gear

Your kickstand switch is either broken or out of position. The bike kills the engine as a safety feature if it thinks the sidestand is down and the bike is put in gear while the engine is running.
