2005 wr450 exhaust pipe is red hot coming out of head

Hi, Anonymous your motorcycle is a high-performance dirt bike designed to run flat out that being said if you are strolling down some scenic trail at a slow speed or letting the bike idle for a few minutes your header pipe will turn cherry red, why you ask? It is not a street bike, it is designed for competition and weight is a major factor all necessary components are of the smallest and lightest design necessary to maintain performance under extreme conditions ie. small radiator and inside frame oil reservoir that doesn't get cooled, the majority of your riding needs to be at high speed. Have a 06 Yamaha 1100 V-star classic, sat for a while before I bought it, front pipe is starting to blue and the idle increases after ya ride it for a couple miles. bike only has 3300 miles on it. could it...

Pipe bluing indicates that cylinder is running lean, therefore too hot. Have you looked at the front spark plug? The insulator should be paper bag tan. Ash white and it's running lean.

The idle going high can be a vacuum leak. You can spray WD-40 (or propane) around the intake flanges when it's running, and if the engine changes speed, you've found the leak.

I got a 78 suzuki gs1000 wiring problem. With key on its okay but as soon as you start the bike the regulator and fuse block star to get really hot and will melt the case if you dont shut the bike off. The...

Try a multi meter across the battery, much more than 14v engine running, and you will probably need a regulator.
The stator will produce 40-50v AC between any pair of the three same colored wires(probably yellow or white)
Make sure the battery is good and not shorted, and jumping off a car battery can put strain on the bike electrics as it will accept more amps the the bike can produce.

04 yz250f pipe at motor glowing red hot

Any reason you had to change the jetting??New pipe,Intakes.?But,even though you may have it a bit rich on idle the pipes WILL get very hot, very quickly without some sort of air flow over the front of the motor and radiator. At the very least, have a strong fan blowing directly on the front of the motor if you are going to let the bike run and you are not riding it.I have seen the white plastics in front of the radiator distort from the radiant heat.Don't idle them for in more then 20 seconds. It can do heaps of damage.Ride the bike and see if its running well. When you stop, turn it off.All the yz and wrf will get very hot at idle.Hope this helps

2009 1200 low harley..pipe turns red after 2 min of running

If you did not adjust your EFI (load a different MAP) then you are leaning the bike way out! This is very bad as the bike will often run at an AFR of 14.0+. do not run the bike until you get the fuel adjusted!! You will void the warranty!!!

I have a v star 650 when i start it the top pipe gets red hot sounds like it running on 1 cylnder help

red pipe is an indicator that the cylinder is getting too much fuel. The fuel is actually burning up in the exhaust pipe. I would hope it is something simple like a vaccum hose came off, but I would try spraying starting fluid around the carb while it is running(still cold though). If the engine revs up, it has an air leak somewhere. Hope this helps...
