Boost(?) problem audi tt

Hi my first question here on fixya:

I have a 2004 audi tt 1,8 turbo 165 kW Quattro s-line - the motor is stock, no chip no nothing - my problem is that the car does not accellerate as it used to. I've just have had it tuned an no changes...

I hear the turbo a lot more, lot of ''air-sound'' if you know what I meen. i have tried to read out som fault from the VAG-COM - but no fault found.

What can it be? By reading on www i've found out it could be one of these things:
Vakuum leak? Boost leak? N75 valve? Wastegate Actuator? N249 valve?

And how can I check these things?

It is probably either the N75 valve(Diverter Valve) or the wastegate actuator. Usually a significant boost leak will set a DTC, still check all hoses and clamps.

A bad wastegate actuator or flap would cause no boost but not necessarily the air-sound.

Testing N75

Air Bypass Valve: Testing and Inspection
With Generic Scan Tool
Wastegate Bypass Regulator Valve, Checking
Recommended special tools and equipment e.g.:
- VAG1526 multimeter or VAG1715 multimeter
- VAG1594 connector test kit
Test sequence
- Switch ignition off.
- Disconnect connector at solenoid valve for boost pressure regulation.
boost(?) problem audi tt - 517f5c6.jpg - Measure resistance between terminals of valve.
Specified value: 25...35 Ohm
If specified value is not obtained:
- Replace Wastegate Bypass Regulator Valve -N75-.

Testing N249

Exhaust Bypass Valve: Testing and Inspection
With Generic Scan Tool
Recirculating Valve For Turbocharger, Checking
NOTE:
Valve opens between connection to intake manifold and connection to deceleration shut-off valve with no voltage. Connection to vacuum
reservoir is closed.
Test sequence
- Switch ignition off.
- Disconnect connector from Recirculating valve for turbocharger -N249-.

9dfbfb9.jpg - Measure resistance between terminals of valve.
Specified value: 27...30 Ohm
If specified value is not obtained:
- Replace Recirculating valve for turbocharger -N249-.
If specified values are obtained:
- Connect test box to control module wiring harness, connect test box for wiring test.
boost(?) problem audi tt - 1a741bd.jpgimg src="/uploads/images/1a741bd.jpg" alt="1a741bd.jpg" class="h_mi" /> - Check wire between test box socket 105+2-pin connector terminal 2 for open circuit according to wiring diagram.
Wire resistance: max: 1.5 Ohm
- Also check the wire for short circuit to B+ and Ground (GND).
If no malfunctions are found in wire:
- Check wire between 2-pin connector terminal 1 and the Fuel Pump (FP) Relay -J17- for open circuit according to wiring diagram.
Wire resistance: max: 1.5 Ohm
If no malfunctions are found in wires:
- Replace Engine Control Module (ECM).

To test the wastegate, locate the wastegate linkage rod and verify that there is no play and that it is closed. You can apply compressed air to the actuator to see if it opens and closes. (not more than 30 psi)

My Audi 1997 A4 1.8T Quattro dosent boost when I hit 3000 revs, it cuts out like Im red lining. Why is that?

Hi Ken, I believe you should take the vehicle for a diagnostic scan. It sounds as if the dump gate is defective and opening too soon and therefore not developing the boost required. The problem could also be related to a defective signal received by the management system and closing the injection system too early. Regards John

Audi A6 3.0 tdi Quattro 2005, glow plug light comes on, limp mode

16619 -Engine boost condition - Limit not reached. Check intake hoses/ connections for leaks. Check Turbo charger waste gate regulating valve/ waste gate working correctly. Must move freely when accelerating, won't achieve full boost if waste gate sticking open. Check Turbo impeller turning freely, oil feed pipe for turbo can get blocked causing impeller to seize. Engine compact, not easy to access these components.

Removing turbo from audi tt 225 quattrro

Yep, it is possible to get turbo off without pulling engine. I had a TB break at 85000 miles and did the repair at home (2 bent exhaust valves, 1 intake valve). Getting the turbo disconnected from the exhaust manifold was the single toughest part of this repair. It is attached with 3 reduced head socket bolts (appear to made from stainless steel). Eventually had to drive out one of the bolts...

Boost cuts out while driving

Sounds like you have a broken boost line. So check and feel around and see if you feel air seeping out a hose. Your not getting enough air into the system

Location of fuel filter on a 2001 audi tt quattro

On a 2001 Audi TT Quattro the fuel filter is located forward of the fuel tank, in the right rear wheel well area. The fuel line clamps are a bit tricky. The change will improve performance. The owners manual does not even list changing the filter. But do it! use a Fram, and it fit perfectly. Good luck.
