Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Offhand, it would appear neither. Your description indicates that the idle circuit of the carbs needs looking into more particularly the slow (idle) jets. Almost always, this requires a carb pulldown, cleaning, soaking of non-rubber parts, passageway clearing and jets inspection.

Still, it is of course very possible to have a restricted fuel delivery system hence the idle is severely affected. Since cleaning is the recommended approach, might as well extend all the way to the tank.

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.

Injectors not shooting gas in thottle bodies

There could be many reasons for this, some simple, some not so simple, so you will need to start by eliminating simple things first.

The first thing to check is the battery. Is it fully charged and in good enough shape to supply the electrical load needed to make the bike run correctly (bikes with electronic ignition and fuel injection must have a good battery for the bike to run properly)?

Next, take a look at your owners manual and find out if there is a fuse for the fuel injection system. If there is, is it good?

When you insert the key and turn the ignition on can you hear the fuel pump? If not, you fuel pump is either dead or not getting power for one reason or another.

Many cars are equiped with a safety switch which automaticly turns off the fuel pump in the event of an accident. These can be reset by simply pushing a button. Is your bike equipped with something similar?

When was the last time the bike was running? The gas sold today is notorious for not being stable for very long. If everything else on the bike checks out ok, there is a remote chance your injectors are clogged with bad fuel.

When i try to start my 99 vw passat gls v6 it will barely start and stay started for possibly 5 sec with no presure on gas pedal if i keep my foot on the gas it will stay running but the rpms wont rise...

it hard to say there few things that could cause this but sounds like it a Fuel issue
Possible bad fuel pump totallly clogged fuel filter bad injectors Out of gas etc.
first thing you need to do is check your fuel pressure ( I bet it be low ) if it low check fuel filter if fuel filter good replace fuel pump
If Fuel pressure is within Specs then test the injectors
if Fuel pressure is ok and injectors test out ok then check ignition system (spark plugs, coils, module etc)

Car has hard time starting but when does have to pump gas paddle to stay running. Then it revs up but seems like timing is off. Dont know what can I do to see if thats the problem?

If the timing was off, it probably wouldn't even start. You would get a backfire, but nothing more. Have you checkd the fuel pressure? You may have low pressure. It could be a clogged fuel filter. Check your main gas lines. Make sure fuel is leaving the pump and hitting the filter. See if your engine is getting gas also. You could have bad fuel injectors. If you have a question, let me know. I am here to help. Thanks for using FixYa.

We bought this bike and it ran great until my boy ran it out of gas now it will run fine for awhile then it will not stay running it did every so often now it want stay running unless you hold the throttle...

well there could a few things going on here. you have started doing all the right things so far. Is there rust in the tank? are fuel lines new? what happens when you turn your idle screw up? i have seen fuel pumps go bad after being ran dry, you may want to pull the fuel line off the carbs or the exit on the pump hook up a hose from the out on the fuel pump to a catch can. turn the key on and see how much fuel it pumps and if it stops, it should keep pumping. you am have gotten something in the pump itself that is not allowing it to work right. the ethanol thats in gas now is causeing a lot of bad things in motorcycle land (older bikes) because it "eats" at the rubber, this could have cause the inside of you fuel line to start to break down old hoses will do the same thing. if your pumps is acting right it maybe time to look in to your carbs, they can be a pain sometimes but if you get a book it'll have the break down of the removeing and cleaning.
good luck'

98 dodge ram 1500 Truck ran out of gas. It will start w/ starter fluid sprayed in filter but will not stay running.

Since the fuel pump is in the gas tank, your pump picked up debris, and dirt on the bottom of the tank and ran it into your fuel filter.
Replace fuel filter, and check fuel pump fuse.
Running your vehicle with less than a 1/4 tank of gas is hard on the pump, because the fuel pump uses gas to cool it.
Please let me know what you find.

Engine wont stay running. Please help.

change the filter first. IF the pumpwas bad it wouldnt start at all. It could be going bad but the only way to really test it is to pull your gas tank and at that rate you may as well replace it.

you could have a clogged injector causing the lack of fuel as well. you can try injector cleaner, Lucas is my personal preference I use it at every fill-up. 4-6oz per tank of gas depending on your tank size.

Carbs were removed and cleaned. now starts hard and does not idle

sounds like carbs not cleaned right, oh try changing fuel filter, does fuel pump run constantly. if you cant hear it you can feel it, up behind the ignition. Berrymans B12 fuel additive works wonders. double dose add to gas run bike til hot then let stand overnight, pray a lot and try it again.

try fuel pump located under back seat, it could be the sending unit, which is part of the fuel pump.
