Can get it to fire with starting fluid, but wont stay running like it is not getting gas. if i squirt a little gas in the carb it will run until gas is gone doesnt seem to get gas from carb .bowl has gas in it
The problems is in the carburetor, common problems when unit does not run often and rust get get build up. get some automotive carburetor cleaners and spray it heavy in the carb, don't worried about flooding it or damaging anything, it will dry out faster than gas. (use little gas if you need to) try to start it up and get it running with the carb cover off and continue to spray carb cleaner in the carb while the engine is running, do this couple of time and hope that would clear it out. if that don't work you will need to take it apart and clean it. you have small tiny object obstructing the carb flow. the unit doesn't have a fuel pump, it run on gravity feed, the carb are easily obstructed. hope that help a bit
If the bowl has fresh gas (smell it), then the jetting is plugged up. Remove the carburetor, disassemble the jets (Idle and main) and soak in carburetor spray cleaner--blow out with compressed air. If the fuel in the bowl smells stale, then remove the float and needle valve. Wash the needle valve seat, but not the needle--just wipe clean. Check that fuel runs out of the fuel hose--if not, check for a plugged filter or bad hose. Hope this gets you running.

Fire meaning run a second ok spray bottle w gas in it and air filter box tube off carb inlet have assistant to crank on your command.. spray 4 pumps of gas into carb inlet w grip wide open close grip have assistant crank bike if it starts be ready to pump a squirt of fuel erry 3 seconds . If it stays running doing this . Then you're carb idle circuit is clogged . Carb will be coming off fo cleaning. Kevin or dellorto or some brand of carb clearly marked ?
check for spark if spark squirt some starting fluid in carb dose it try to start or runs chang gas put fresh gas in it and seafoam carberator additve in it restart sameway let it run three tank fulls out then try to start it regular way if still dosnt wont to run rebuild carb this is how a shop would do it
On the Carb there are usually two needle valves, doing one at a time and carefully counting half turns. Using a small screwdriver start turning clockwise one of the screws in and count how many half turns you turn until tight. Might be 1 1/2 (half turns) to 3 1/2 (half turns) After it is tight reverse the screw and spring and remove it. Blow out the hole with a stray or air pump or wd40 spray can with straw tip. Reinstall until tight then open the amount of half turn you recorded. Do the same with the other needle valve.
First dump the old gas and put in fresh. Clean or replace spark plug.
Put a squirt of starting fluid in the carb. If it fires the ignition system is good. Do this a few times because there is still old gas in the float bowl and fuel line. When the fresh gas gets to the carb it will stay running. If it did not fire with starting fluid the points and condensor will need to be replaced and maybe the coil.
sounds like no gas getting to the carb. plugged fuel filter, fuel line, bad fuel pump. the carb should squirt a little gas when the throttle is pumped. leave ignition off while looking down the carb and pump the throttle linkage to visually check that gas is squirting down the carb with each stroke of the linkage. maybe you are just out of gas!!
hello sir, my machine will only start when pumping primmer bulb or squirting fluid in the carburetor than stops. the fuel line has broken off, in most small carburetors this is a ongoing problem.old fuel will crystallize when left in tank for a long time.plugging up ports, fuel lines, small screen in carburetor.fuel lines will dissolve clogging carb.this is why it will run when the choke is on creating a vacuum to where there is fuel forced in the carb to rum, also the gas will evaporate leaving the oil behind clogging up carb.the thing to do is remove carb. and clean out, replacing gaskets or fuel line if necessary.use carb cleaner to clean out carb.make sure to make note where fuel line go.the fuel filter broke off of fuel line letting debris get in carb plugging it up.the muffler is known to clog up a lot on these machines where they want run. the compression should be 60 to 120 lbs any thing below 60 is junk. when adjusting the carb screws turn in all the way than turnout 1 1/4 turns turn in slow until machine runs also you need to check for spark by removing plug and grounding against engine to check spark, ok.a new spark plug would be a good ideal too , if you are going to make these repairs use new fuel line and filter, hope this helps, any comments welcome, thank you, !!
Squirt a little gas in the carb, get a new plug in there, see if it will fire, make sure the blade is on, won't run without it. If it won't fire, squirt some gas in the piston itself and try it again. Narrow down the problem. Only so many things will make it not run. Any kill switches, safety switches on it? Check it out.
The carb jets are probably badly clogged. Carb removal and soaking in carb cleaner may be necessary. The gas these days can go bad in as little as a month or so.
Try to squirt a little gas in the carb and see if it pops or tries to run for a short time. The diaphram in the carb is probably old and hard. That would be the first place I would look.
The filter you chg. an inline filter? Is there a filter in the carb.where fuel line connects, some had a brass screan in the carb. you can chk. the fuel pressure without it running, just unhook line at carb. put it into a plastic bottle or something to catch it and have someone turn engine over if it squirts out good thats enought for it to run they only put out about 6 to 8 lbs. of pressure. I don't think that solenoid would keep it from running, when it will run on either. but maybe if you unplug it and see what happens. It suunds to me to be a fuel dilivery problem, either something restricting the flow to carb. or you got a bad pump.
