Question about 2001 Suzuki TL 1000 R

1997 Suzuki TL1000S - no electrical power at all.

Swithed the bike on. Everything lit up, fuel pump primed...everything as usual. Touched the starter button and everything went dead as if you disconnected the battery. No dash lights or anything. I've checked the 5 fuses in front under the dash...I've checked the battery....checked the 30amp fuse in the starter relay. All are OK. I've looked at every connection that i can readily see. Haven't yet removed the tank and air box to get to the switch connector. Could the starter relay kill power to everything if it's faulty

Check kill switch circuitry its located near the start button asembly.

have you checked the 30 amp main fuse in the starter relay its separate to the other fuses.

Starting problems


Hi, Anonymous before testing any electrical component in the Starting System it is "IMPERATIVE" that you have a fully charged battery of 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test if necessary, you may have a preliminary reading of 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amperage, the battery is faulty and must be replaced. AGM type batteries fall into this scenario more so than lead acid batteries.
1. Ignition Switch not in the "ON" position.
2. Engine Run Switch in the "OFF" position.
3. Check the battery terminals for damage or corrosion check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter.
4. Bank angle sensor needs a reset or is faulty.
5. FOB battery low or dead.
6. Faulty ignition switch.
7. Faulty starter button.
8. Faulty kickstand, clutch, neutral safety switch.
9. Security alarm needs a reset.
10. Starter relay, solenoid, starter have failed or circuit wiring faulty.
11. Starter armature or field coils have failed.
12. Main fuse or circuit breaker may be blown or faulty.
13. The electric starter is working but starter clutch has failed.
14. Check for engine trouble codes.

I'm having fuel problems. Does the cavalcade have an electric fuel pump? Best way to check it out.


Yes. It is located under the right (sitting on the bike) below the seat. The fuel fitler is located there as well. Remove the seat and forward rear wheel guard portion that is under the seat. The fuel pupm can be operated by pressing the starter button only, if your clutch safety switch has not been bypassed. If it has, then the starter wil operate (and your cruise control will never operate) Pressing the starter only, allows you to "Prime" the carbs to fill the fuel bowls up proir to starting.

1998 suzuki gsxr750 fuel pump inop after replacing filter


You cannot bleed the fuel injection system.Test the pump alone (not on the bike) for sufficient fuel supply.Also check the fuel pump relay.
If all that is ok next time you try to crank the engine (only with kill switch on, the fuel pump primes up) with lifted tank and opened air box, spray a bit of carb cleaner spray towards the throttle bodies.It will help.

I have a 1997 TL1000s 19,000miles, power commander, m4 exhaust, V-twin, fuel injected suzuki! I love the bike it is soo strong it just never ran clean from 3-4000rpm when i bought it. the bike now just got...


First, I would try mixing in some seafoam...also, are you running premium fuel, or regular?

Motorcycle engines are designed for the higher octane ratings, and running regular or mid grade will clog your injectors.

If you run the seafoam through the gas, be sure to do it in your driveway, bike on stand, in neutral. You might have to hold the throttle open a little, depending on what concetration you mix it in at. If the problem is a clogged injector, that will clean it out.

I would also look at your fuel filter and lines from the tank, check for debris that could be impeding the flow of fuel.

97 lincoln wont start


usually if you have power it may be a fuel problem, when you turn your key to the on position you should hear your fuel pump come on, if not it could be the fuel pump relay under the hood or a possible bad fuel pump or bad connection on the fuel pump. hope this helps.
