Your throtle cable or the carb it stisking. Check the cable for kinks and lube the cable that goes threw the cable housing with cable lube. Do not use w-40 cause it attacks dirt.

Can you test the voltage regulator on a yamaha banshee

The voltage regulator on a Banshee only controls voltage output to the lighting system.Checking is easy... unplug one headlight, attach voltmeter to ("low beam" hot wire) and ground wire. Start engine. AFTER warming the engine quickly rev engine close to redline (bout 9000rpm). At 9000rpm, voltage to the headlights should NOT exceed 16.3 volts. It it does... it's cooked.

2003 yamaha banshee it is very hard to start, when it finally turns on I have to hold the throttle if not it will just turn off,,

Have you check the choke position?
When you got it going does it rev up high immediately, if yes then you choke is stuck wide open.
Good enough?

Banshee running wide open after a couple of revs

The problem with vents is that a vent can get plugged and lessen or completely kill the flow of fuel. They will not make an engine rev wildly. Your banshee has standard carbs. The throttle cables may be routed incorrectly, pinching or stretching the cables. Remove the air filters. Look inside the carbs. Do the slides move freely up and down when the throttle is twisted? In the diagram below note the junction tube on the throttle cabel. The cable can stick at inside the tube. Is the connector hose between the carbs in place? Also, there is a switch on top of the carb. This can go haywire also. Odd that the problem was not present before they cleaned the carbs.

Banshee wont rev

Usually related to TORS, specifically the safety switch in the clutch/park brake assembly. If it's defective the engine won't rev. Solution: look for a TORS removal kit.

Grinding sound on pressing clutch in at high revs

The grinding sound may be a throw out bearing or the pilot bearing. The sticking throttle problem sounds like a linkage or cable binding up from possibly damage due to the impact from the accident.
