Question about 2001 Harley Davidson FLSTF - FLSTFI Fat Boy

1 Answer

No electrical power

My 2005 Harley Electra Glide has no electrical power.
When the ignition is turned on there's no power to the instruments or lights. When switched to accessory mode there is weak power to the dash lights but they're dim. Battery checks good and is new.

My accessory fuse blows on my 2005 harley davidson electra glide?

Hi, Richard you have a dead short which is usually the easiest to find. Using a test light connected to the hot side of the blown fuse holder, start probing the wire leaving the fuse holder about an inch away the test light should illuminate, keep probing towards the ignition switch until the test light no longer illuminates you are now very close to the short. For more information about your issue and valuable "FREE" downloads that you will need please click on the links below and for specific information or questions, please feel free to contact me at Good luck and have a nice day.

Tachometer not working

Hi Anonymous, if you have a 2005 FLHT then there is no cable, the tachometer is electronic and is probably ok. The ECM may have gotten an unaceptable reading and is not letting the tach play with the other children. Go to the websites below for more info:

1993 electra glide classic - can a faulty brake light cause dash lights to fail

Hi Anonymous, I don't think so but anythings possible on Harley electrics. Start by checking your instrument fuse then I would get out my test light and start at the ignition switch and start tracking the light/ignition power wire to the dash lights for a worn or broken wire then check all the wiring harness connectors in that circuit for corroded, broken or loose pins and for a free wiring diagram please visit the website below and good luck.
