Question about 1970 Triumph T 100 R

1 Answer

Hi I have a 1967 bsa bantam d10 175cc. The bike still has petrol in the tank from 1974 when it was last running. I wont to flush out the tank with fresh petrol, But I am not sure if the bike can run on unleaded fuel without doing damage to the engine. Can anyone help.

The bike can run on unleaded but it will be rough .
you mwill have loss of power and radical .
what i would suggest is to ask a mechanic about the effects of unleaded petrol to an old engin .
all i know is that the bike will run as i did it to my old BMW and all i had to do is replace some gaskets .
Best of luck .

A tissue paper fell into my petrol tank

Don't worry about it, if you loose performance in the next few days then you know where to look but it shouldn't clog up the filter.
If you find that you are worried about it then you will have to take the gas tank off, drain the fuel and the flush the paper out.

I hav got oil in my petrol tank how should i get it cleaned its affecting my bike performance and also misfires sumtimes

Flushing the tank with gasoline should solve the problem. Remove the tank and empty the existing gas. Close the petrol valve, fill with about 1/4 tank, slosh about and drain. You may also need to flush the carburetor and replace the spark plug. With rust build-up in the tank, or a very stubborn problem, you may need to flush the tank with Muriatic Acid.

My bike felt like it was holding back at about 2000 rpm, thought it was carb problem, since ran out of petrol will not start,

there must have been dirt in your tank and has been pulled threw with the petrol at the bottem of the tank put some engine flush in the next tank and bump or kick for a while (suggest bumping less effort lol)

I have a 1974 dt 250 same as an dt 360 the bike has sat in a barn about 4 yrs it will not start removed and cleaned the gas tank went thur the carb new plug used ignition coil compression about 50 to 75...

Compression is too low!

Replace the piston rings.

Also check continuity from engine to frame till high-tension coil...
Check if breaker points aren't dirty ( clean out with fine sandpaper )
Check breakerpoint settings
