Question about 2006 Yamaha DT 125 RE
I recently installed HID headlights on my yamaha mio soul scooter, unfortunately the load is just too high for the alternator and/or battery to handle after extended periods of time that the lights are switched on, resulting in overall power loss(voltage). I have been advised to cut a wire connected to the alternator, which they say will induce a ''fast-charge'' to my scooter's battery. Is this the only solution available besides reverting back to the stock/weak headlamp bulbs? Are there any procedures to be performed after cutting the alternator wire? just to make sure I don't fry the whole bike :)
Thanks and Godspeed!
Cutting the wire will do. My Mio also have a HID any that's what we did (cutting one wire). But you can also try alternative like installing a fast charger. So you can charge up your battery fast as you use your HID.
No problems encountered with my HID using the cutting methode.

Do not cut the wire! This will disable your regulator, which will fry all your bulbs, then other stuff too. You must install a larger generator, or revert to the original headlight.
