Nissanxterra 2000 3.3 4x4new fuel pump. And distributor still won't start no fire at plugs and pump don't run

Oh Boy, On late model vehicles with fuel injection, You have a low engine oil sensor, if more than 1 quart low will disable ignition and a fuel pump relay(20 amp or better) if its bad fuel pump will not run (no fuel) In a no spark condition Always start with cheapest parts first, Check oil, check fuses and related electrical apparatus. I bet that fuel pump was expensive and it was probably OK. It would not be a bad idea to check the OBDII for stored faults. That always helps avoid buying un needed parts.

Engine will crank but not turn over. Suspect fuel pump relay or fuse.

Testing the fuel pump electrical circuit would be the way to see if the fuel is the problem ! Learning how to test automotive electrical systems would also be helpful .
Fuel Pump Electrical Circuits Description and Operation
Also looking at a wiring diagram for your vehicle would be helpful as well . You would do that to see what all is involved in the fuel pump electrical circuit on your vehicle. Also pulling a spark plug wire while cranking the engine over to check for spark .
Free wiring diagrams herehttp://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html
Enter the vehicle info. year , make , model and engine size . Under system click on engine ,then under subsystem click on fuel controls . Click the search button ,then the blue links.
But first ,hook up a fuel pressure gauge instead of guessing if it's the fuel pump . You don't know any of this , suggest you take it to a qualified repair shop .

Carburetor does not let fuel to engine

check the fuel lines and filters for blockages

Remove and check all fuel filters located in the fuel line and in the carburetor.

Replace any and all filters that can not be confirmed good or have not been changed recently.

Inspect the fuel lines for leaks or kinks that might interfere with fuel flow.

Tap the top of the carburetor lightly to free a stuck needle valve or float that may be shutting off fuel to the carburetor float bowl.

Check the fuse marked fuel pump in the fuse box for any electric fuel pump equipped vehicles.

Connect a fuel pressure gauge to the Shrader valve if the vehicle has an electric fuel pump. Turn on the key and monitor the fuel pressure, it should be around 60-psi.

If equipped with a mechanical fuel pump, remove the fuel line to the carburetor and connect a fuel gauge to the fuel pump.

This should yield a low pressure, under 20-psi when the engine is cranked over.

Check the mechanical fuel pump by placing a fuel line into a gas can and attach the other end to the intake of the fuel pump.

Crank the engine and check for fuel at the carburetor.

The engine may start with fuel from a remote source such as a fuel can.

If the pump draws fuel from the can and not the tank the tank screen must be inspected and or replaced.

This would require removing the gas tank.

hope this helps

Lost electrical power to fuel pump

There are many reasons why fuel pumps have no power, most (in tank) fuel pumps fail due to low fuel inside of tank.

These fuel pumps turn at an alarming rate which in turn causes an alarming amount of heat. This heat is then dissipated by the fuel inside of the tank itself. If the driver/operator allows to run the fuel very low and continue to do so, this will over time allow for the fuel pump to overheat due to the ONLY source used to cool the fuel pump is the fuel inside of the fuel tank itself. Electrically, view the operator's manual or similar source to locate fuel pump fuse and/or relay of which will open the electrical path when the fuel pump overheats.
This should be a pretty good starting point to locate/isolate electrical issue you may be experiencing.

Good Hunting to you & hope this gets you back on the road soon!

A 460 engine that acts like its not getting enough fuel. Will start but runs as if only on half the cylinders missing badly or such.

Check your running fuel pump pressure. If (as I suspect) it's too low, first try changing your fuel filter. After changing the filter, recheck the running fuel pump pressure. If still low, check you fuel pump pressure regulator. If OK, you may need a new fuel pump.

Also probably would be a good idea to replace you air filter.

Good luck!

Were is fuel pump located

On the 2.3L and the 2.9L engines to model year 1988 the electric fuel pump system used on these EFI engines consisted of two fuel pumps: a low pressure boost pump mounted in the fuel tank, and a high pressure fuel pump mounted on the frame rail.

The low pressure electric fuel pump is located in the fuel tank and is a part of the fuel gauge sending unit.

Hope this helps.

Over an extended period of time gas will evaporate in a carburator. It's possible that presure is leaking off in your fuel pump as well. A weak pump will have trouble maintaining pressure over a period of time and will have trouble building pressure back up. Starting the engine on a regular basis and letting it run for a few minutes will cure the problem and help keep the engine seals from drying out and leaking. Converting to an electric fuel pump will also make it easier to start after sitting for a period of time.
Any generic LOW PRESSURE electric pump will work. It only needs to put out between 7 and 9 or 10 pounds pressure. Unhook the fuel lines from your mechanical pump and hook to the electric. The li ne from the tank goes on the inlet end. The electric pump usually ground through the case so it needs contact with bare metal or a wire running from the case to bare metal. Run the power wire to a powered wire in the engine compartment that powers on and off with the key or to an accessory fuse in the fuse box. It should run through a 20A fuse.
Hope this helps.

IF NOT REPLACE FUSE AND CHECK THE WIRE TO PUMP.IF PUMP IS GETTING POWER..REPLACE FUEL FILTER FIRST.IF IT DONT HELP.COULD BE THE ELECTRIC LOW PRESSURE PUMP. FAULTY. IT PUMPS DIESEL FUEL IT INTO INJECTION PUMP TO BE PRESSURIZED TIMED AND INJECT.SEE IF LOW PRESSURE PUMP DONT WORK THE WHOLE ENGINE WONT RUN.THE INJECTION PUMP NEED FUEL FROM LOW PRESSURE ELECTRIC PUMP TO RUN ENGINE.

glow plug relay should be on the front are rear of intake.you have a mechanical low pressure pump on the passenger side low near the front. or a electric low pressure pump on the starter side. your truck should have the low pressure electric pump. to check fuel pressure you disconnect the out let line to do a out put test.on the electric low pressure pump.put out let line in a container.crank engine for 20 to 30 sec.you should have a good flow of fuel no dribbles.if dribble replace low pressure electric pump.the mechanical low pressure pump out put test you disconnect fuel line from the fuel filter inlet line.disconnect wire at fuel injection pump electric shut off solenoid .place the fuel line in a container. crank engine for 20 sec. fuel flow looks good.pump is good .if dribbles.replace mechanical low pressure pump.to check glow plug relay you need a .diesel repair ford manual to show you where to put a test light to check the relay.WEAR SAFETY GLASSES WHEN WORKING ON DIESEL ENGINES.DONT DISCONNECT THE INJECTION PUMP LINES WHILE ENGINES IS RUNNING.THE FUEL PRESSURE IS SO HIGH SPRAY IN YOUR EYE CAN CAUSE BLINDNESS.GET IN SKIN OR SORE CAUSE BLOOD POISON.
