Question about 1987 kawasaki VN 750 Vulcan

1 Answer

It won't start (except on rare occasions) by itself. If I boost it with my car, it will start immediately every time. The battery is new and tested fine, great cranking amps. I removed the starter and had the small end of the armature (where the brushes turn) turned true as it was slightly out of round. All other components were cleaned, tested and reassembled - the starter was then bench tested and worked great. Once battery and starter were reinstalled the same problem persisted - turning over with a sluggish groan and won't start. Last summer if I went for a run on the highway for 30 to 60 minutes then shut down, I would have to wait twenty minutes before it would start again. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks. George

Check all the connections from the starter to the starter solenoid and from it to the starter. Also check the ground cable.

My 2010 corvette grand sport needs a boost to start every 3 days. I give it an immediate boost and it starts. The battery indicates past 13, so what could the problem be?

My first suspicion is a bad battery.
If you can, have it tested.
The reason why it does start when it does is what is called :"surface charge".
When the battery is tested, first it is brought up to full voltage.
Then, a "load" is put on it for a few minuter.
If you have no tester, shade tree mechanics give the load test by turning on all the lights for 5 minutes, without the engine running.
If then it goes bad and won't start, you have found the problem.

Electrical problems, won't start in morning after sitting overnight, with boost it starts immediately

Have your battery load tested at auto parts store. Do it while still in the car. They can also check your alternator at the same time. It sounds like you either have a short that is draining the battery as it sits overnight or as your vehicle runs the battery has enough charge to run but not enough charge to last it UNTILL the next morning.

96 half ton turns over won't start

I see you mentioned everything except the battery. Have battery load tested as a weak battery will crank vehicle but may not spin engine fast enough. Dirty connections or corroded cables/ends could cause same problems. Hope this helps.

Dell latitude D600 problem

The flashing caps lock is an indication of a failed POWER on Self-Test (POST)

Remove the HDD, Battery, AC adapter, RAM and Modem

Press and hold power button for 15 seconds

Connect AC, see if you get any beep codes. If you do, power off, disconnect power, insert RAM, connect AC and reboot. If system boots, power off and add hard drive. If it doesn't, replace the motherboard.

If the system boots with RAM, but fails to boot with HDD, replace HDD 1st.
