Question about 1996 Honda CBR 900 RR Fireblade

1 Answer

My 1996 Honda CBR 900 just stopped working. Riding fine, then I went to start it up the other day and no power will even come to the controls, let alone allow me to start it up. I took the battery and had it charged, and the problem is not alleviated. What could it be?

I checked the fuses, they are all fine. I replaced the starter relay switch and the battery with new ones. I don't know where to go from here... thinking it might be the R/R unit but I don't have the money to spend on something that won't resolve the issue. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Manual Honda CBR 900 RR Fireblade

Hi, Anonymous the vast majority of service, parts, and owners manuals on the internet are "FREE" to download and all service manuals contain wiring diagrams in the back pages. The rest usually charge a modest fee around $10 and there is a handful of obscure, rare, obsolete, and very old models that are no longer or never were available, for these rare occasions I shall look on eBay and find the cheapest one available. Most of the manuals will cover your exact make, model, and year otherwise one will be provided that comes as close as possible to your bike and will have most of the same info that an exact manual would have. Test the power at the battery then at the starter relay, both sides.

Sounds like you have a ground fault. I once had a car with a faulty ground wire on the headlight, when I put high beam on the speedo would jump to 170km/h and the indicators would glow dimly. Sure sounds like a similar ground fault to me, check all the ground straps, from the headlight or anywhere else you can think of.
