Hi Novice.

Sounds like you have a project. The engine will turn over? And you do have compression?

I agree with your accessment on the carb - probably needs work and maybe even a professional rebuild.

The electric sounds like it needs lots of cleaning up.

Do you have spark at the plugs? Are you able to check time? Points clean? Check all this stuff. You can find the answers to most of your questions at the Honda Riders Club page and elsewhere (like what is the gap for the points - what plug and gap - where are the time marks) It is too much to put here.

The starter switch operates a starter relay. It may not function at all. Find it and check your voltages. should be 12 volts on three of the 4 lugs, 2 lite wires and two heavy wires.

It is possible that all that works but the starter doesn't. You can jump the starter from the battery with a heavy cable to see it it actually operates. MAKE SURE THE BIKE IS IN NEUTRAL BEFORE YOU TO THIS.

I think this will gte you started.

Good luck with your project.

How can I harden up the front forks on my Honda 125 Varadero please

Measure the diameter of the springs top,cut pipe(Usually stainless steel)and remove the tops of the forks, install the spacers in each fork tube and enjoy-Experiement with the lengths, typically start with 1 1/2~3 inches.....You can also change the thickness of the fork oil...The tubed method does not require higher air pressure to work....

Gy 125 starter motor jammed

Hi, Anonymous in order to diagnose the starter circuit you must start with a fully charged battery, 12.5 volts or better and be able to pass a proper load test if necessary. The battery cables and terminals must be clean and tight. The "NEGATIVE" cable is famous for corroding and or breaking inside the harness, check the connectors at both ends. Check your starter relay with a test light for continuity, it could be faulty due to corrosion and sticking in a closed configuration, another claim to fame. Finally, there is the starter solenoid, low battery voltage or faulty battery connections will cause extremely high amperage at the plate and contact shoes and rob the hold in coils of much-needed voltage. In extreme cases, the solenoid plunger plate will literally weld itself to the contact shoes, keeping the circuit closed and thus permanent engagement. Another scenario is unacceptable voltage drop to the starter solenoid from the ignition switch to the starter relay to the starter button, and finally to the solenoid. Remove the green wire from the starter solenoid and hook up the positive lead of your volt meter to the green wire connector and ground the negative lead. Turn on the ignition switch and depress starter button, the voltage reading should be no more than .5 volt less than the battery voltage. If it is more than .5 volt you need to backtrack that part of the circuit with your volt meter until you find the voltage robbing offender. Next remove the 3 screws that secure the solenoid cover and remove the plunger, dress the plate and the contact shoes of arching residue and make sure the contact shoes are tight and secure. If you have done all of the above, replace the green starter button wire, hook up your voltmeter to the battery and check the voltage drop when you start the engine, anything below 9 volts could indicate a faulty battery and a proper load test should be performed. Yes they are the same frame and will interchange. I would get everything with the new motor. Exhaust-carbs-air box. You may need to get the CDI box but i'm not shure on that.
