Question about 2004 KTM SX 200

Suzuki Intruder VS 400 valve clearance

Looking for the valve clearances on a Suzuki Intruder VS 400.
Also,is there any way to work out the year of manufacture using the frame / engine numbers? These bikes were "grey imports" into South Africa
How far can I use the 800cc intruders workshop manual. Apart from the engine displacement they seem pretty similar.
If anybody can point me in the right direction it will help a great deal.

A service manual is a valuable tool with an aging bike. I suggest the dealer/mfr. or Clymer books. In the meantime, go to the library reference section.

Whats the cam shims settings and valve clearance settings please for 1990 gsf 400 import

Intake: .004-.006"
Exhaust: .006-.008"

There are no specific settings for shims. Each valve is a little different and the different thickness shims are used to get the clearance in spec. This also changes as the engine wears. If you need any, the shims will have to be purchased at the dealer.

I got to the battery on my 2004 suzuki 800 intruder but it will not drop all the way down to remove the battery cables any advise

Unfortunatley the battery will not just fall out when the floor plate is unbolted. The battery is larger than the clearance. The bike needs to be elevated from the rear to access it. The best way is with a motorcycle jack.

it (assuming it is a VS800) is in a trap door under the bike between the frame. disconnect the negative lug (left side) then the positive (right side) (this will be a small slotted screw viewable through a postage stamp sized window on the side of the battery cover) from underneath you remove the two front trap-door bolts and the cover will swing downward (be ready to support it as it swings) to add clearance have the back wheel up on a small thin board and one of equal size under the side stand for more info on suzuki intruders and boulevard series bikes check with
