The battery needs to be charge on a 2 amp charger. If you use a larger amp charger it wears hard on a motorcycle battery. I have a 2 amp with a gauge. When I put a weak (stored) battery on the gauge reads 2 then after about 8 hours in drops to 0. This is the reading you want. It means the battery wants 0 amps, its fully charged.
Motorcycle batterys need to go on a charger once a month if you are not rideing the bike.

try a jump start anyway. sometimes the battery seems good but it just isnt cranking out enough amps especially in the winter...might be time to upgrade the battery...or/then check for spark at the plug/wires

Bike wont start, something with the Battery circuit or battery, we can push start the bike so the bike does run, I charged the battery and had the battery tested and it tests out fine, when I put in bike...

From your description, it sounds like a bad starter motor. That is provided all of the cables going from battery to relay, and relay to starter are not corroded or have poor connections. The relay is a weak point, so it may be damaged as well if the starter has been pulling too many amps.

88 rx7 run but wont start

The FC3S is notorious for this and fueling issues. Check all ground points, battery cables and connections. Check the draw from the starter. If the voltage drops below 10V there is not enough power for the ignition, causing weak spark. It really needs to spin over 200rpm cranking. Pop starting does not necessarily mean the compression is good. You need to make sure it cranks fast enough to get a proper compression test with rotary tester, New NGK plugs, new NGK plug wires.

Intermittent problem starting 2002 volvo s60.

the symtoms you describe sounds like a battery fault. but if you have had the battery properley tested and is good then you either have something discharging the battery intermittantly ie. trunk light staying on or a high resistance in the main battery leads or earth connections

How do I jump start an 05 Dyna Lowrider

Hi Spyrilj, it helps if there is someone there to push you, or if your by yourself find a small hill you can coast down, otherwise you have to use the push run and jump method. Turn the fuel valve to the on position, the run stop switch to run, and turn on the the ignition switch. Put the transmission into second gear, pull the choke out if engine is cold or a couple twists of the throttle if its warm or hot. Now for the fun part: pull in the clutch lever and start pushing the bike as fast as you can untill you can't push it any faster and then jump on the bike and with as much force as you can slam you rear end down on the seat and let out the clutch lever simultaneously. The rear wheel should turn the motor over and start, if the wheel locks up and just skids try starting off in third gear. If you have fuel injection and the battery is to dead to prime the pump you will have to jump it off another battery using jumper cables, positive to positive, negative to negative. And if you have to jump off a car make sure the car engine is "NOT" I repeat "NOT" running!!!!! the charging system of a car is too powerfull and will permanately damage your electronics. Good luck

Accord seems to be draining power overnight. only a fast clicking sound when attempting to start. battery 6 months old.

hi, it seems you have a fault DISCHARGE OF BATTERY: make sure there is no lights left ON vehicle inside or out, if phone charger left ON the fast clicking is the starter motor solinoid triing to connect to the starter motor NOT ENOUGH CURRENT TO START ENGINE, sometimes the alternator can have a slight fault, water driping on the contacts on the alternator will flatten the battery, (this is a DIRECT CONNECTION TO THE STARTER MOTOR and BATTERY). naturally the clock, radio, alarm system, all these sytem reduce the battery but this is NOT THE FAULT. charge the battery again it may be just this once. gerry

Timing 17.5 hp mower

i don't think it's a timing issue, i think the valves need to be adjusted a little tighter - if the rocker arms are too loose, the valves don't open enough and compression builds up, fighting against the starter

does it start and run when you jump start it? if so, you probable need a higher cranking battery. sounds like the battery isnt powerfull enough.

Battery dead

If you don't have a multimeter, get one from Radio Shack or Wal-Mart. Measure the voltage across your battery while the bike is off. Then measure the voltage across the battery while you push the starter. Finally, measure the voltage across the battery with the bike running (if you can get it running). BTW, when jump starting a bike with a car, LEAVE THE CAR OFF.
