Your bike's engine is back firing ..this could be because of low level of fuel in the float chamber.
If you have cleaned the carbs , please recheck and reset the float chamber level.
Secondly both of the carburators have to work exactly at the same time..if they dont it will also kinda back fire and have uneven idling...check this too.
As for the air mixture screw .. once all is fine ....tighten the screw slowly all the way in to the last thn unscrew about 2 and half to 3 turns outwards .....you will notice the improvement of the idling.... its adivseable to check the valve clearance and reset them to specs.
Hope this helps!

I'll try it tomorrow for sure. I have backfiring and it idles up by itself. This is because I was following the carb specs on http://www.farm.net/~mason/moto/jetting.html
Thanks

I have 03 kawasaki praire 650 v-twin its backfiring through front carb and wont run whats wrong

Backfiring through a carb is indicative of over advanced ignition. The spark is firing the fuel too early and exploding through the carburettor, instead of firing the piston over Top Dead Centre (TDC).

Another possibility is a damaged valve, do a compression test and get the timing checked.

Headlights stay onwhy does my 1982 kawasaki kz750 headlights stay on after i turn the ignition switch

I would be looking at the ignition.. there is a setting in all ignitions for a park facility with your headlight and tail light to remain on. You can even remove the key and they will remain on in the Park position on the ignition. inside the ignition there are disks with soldier on them which make contact to points.. it could be one of the disks inside the ignition switch which is faulty. Suggest its cheaper to replace the ignition altogether.
Hope this helps.

Backfires starting

Backfiring is caused by a build up of un-burnt fuel in the exhaust which is then ignited by the hot gases causing an explosion. Excess fuel could be caused by a number of factors, 1. timing is out. 2. plugs not firing correctly. 3. carb or fuel injection settings are wrong. Generally back firing is caused by un-burnt fuel so you need to find out why this is happening.
Hope that helps

I want to make my 1979 kz750 faster how would i do that

Have you thought about running a fuel injector additive though the fuel system lately? You could replace the air filter with a high flow unit. spark plugs will make a slight difference, as well increasing your fuel economy. you can always adjust the carburetor because of the age of the bike. try these out and I hope they help!
