Question about 2005 Honda XR 100 Motard

Need to know if there is a bushing that goes in between the gear selector rod and the casing? I am working on the transmission

There is no spacer in the shift pedal set up.

If you look under the hood where the shifter linkage goes from the column to the transmission. You should have 3 rods, and at the ends of the rods should be bushings. Over time, these bushings wear out and disintegrate away. You should be able to purchase a kit to rebuild your shift linkage. Just make sure you label the rods location and orientation before you remove them. It can become quite a headache if you get them out of order.

How do i adjust shifter cable so transmission goes into Park?


Hi,you need to jack car off the ground,and put selector in refirst and aply hand brake,undo the gear leaver from the gearbox then manualy put the gear selector in park position then ajust selector linkidge so that it will go back on without pulling the gear selector out fom its position,if it dose not pick up park now there must be something wrong with the gearbox.

Is there gearlinkage upgrades for gearshift problems on the manual transmissin ,internally ?


The issue almost has to be external. There is only one shift rod on these cars; it rotate a set amount and goes in-an-out. These shifters have a ball bushing at tunnel and attach to an arm that ties them to the transmission. There are several bushings/bolts/pins in this mechanism that are prone to failure. Unless you have had this car on a rack and dropped the transmission down, I am fairly confident that you have not changed all of the bushings. Also, failure of the transmission mount itself could allow for movement of the shifter (actually the transmission is moving appearing to move the shifter). This was a common failure on the M3 that caused many blown engines during down shifting resulting in grabbing 2nd instead of 4th and over-revving the engine.

Gear shift stick moves from Park to any of the other gears, but stays in Park. It's sort of loose, as if the stick shift got disengaged from whatever other components are down below.


It did, if it is calble controlled then the cable broke from either the gear selector under the dash or on the transmission . 3 places it breaks at 1 the gear selector under the dash or the center console, connection came out or broke 2. on the transmission gear selector area there is a bushing that it connects that breaks off, 3. inside the transmission, the prawl got loose (rare but happens)

Gear shift lever in column is loose


your problem with the gear selector is in the item 25 these are 2 plastic bushings that wear out and cause the gear selector feels loose, you should also check the item 27 this item has one or two screws loose and cause the gear selector feels loose

Clutch not letting engagement of gears, clutch pedal is soft.


hi first thing to try is to adjust the clutch pedal cable up that is done at the gearbox side by adjusting the 10mm nut on the end of the cable, if after you have done this you can then select gears you will most probably need to replace clutch due to wear.if you cant select any gears even after adjusting the cable then it sound like you have a problem with the selector rod a common fault is for the bushes to wear and knock the selector out of line, check for excessive play in selector rod rubber bush.

I just bought a 1984 ford ranger with a 5 speed manual transmission.Nothing wrong test drive good,clutch is smooth and The gears all flowed just as they should.My girlfriend was messing with the gear...


Not too sure how common a problem this is but it may have come off the selector rod which is attached to the gear stick. If this is ok then the problem will be inside the gearbox and the selector fork has popped off the selector hub inside the gearbox...It will have to come out if this has happened. So check for any linkages attached to the gearstick an make sure they are still in the arms. Hope this helps, let me know how you get on.

My 2002 renault megane 1.4 fidji,the gearstick is very loose,hard to find the gears,goes into gear ok,once under the car,you can move the gear stick underneith easy?


selector rods near the diff are worn, or some boxes have the arm on the bottom, there is a plastic bush that takes the play out, its worn up.
