Check the immobillizer sytem by watching the green key on the dash if it keeps flashing. that indicates a problem there.then take it to the dealership,if the starter only clicks when the problem happens i would recommend putting a starter on.it could be on its way out and tested ok at the parts store.

Ignition problems. Sometimes the car will start and sometimes it won't even try. I thought maybe holding the gear shifter up will help and sometimes putting it in neutral will work when nothing e

From what you describe it sounds like the shift linkage needs adjustment. Was any work done on the transmission,or did you bottom out recently? I don't think it's electrical. Also don't keep a lot of keys on your ignition key ring this can wear the key slot and also cause the erratic starts.Good luck.

Won't start battery is ok.

REmove the starter for checking . IT may require a new solenoid or you may have a dead bar in the commutator which will require a new starter.. This is evidenced by sometimes you can start easy and other time the solenoid clicks every time you turn the key and then suddenly starts. IT comes from the armature stopping with the daed bar under a brush and when it turns just enough to touch another bar away it goes

It sounds like a fault in the starter circuit. It could be a defective neutral safety switch, starter solenoid, or possible a defective ignition switch but I doubt it. Can you hear the starter solenoid??? I'm willing to bet the problem is either with starter relay, neutral safety switch, or starter solenoid.

2004 ion won't start. Lights work. When I turn key don't get series of clicks, get one snap.

That symptom usually means the solenoid on the starter is bad and no longer is completing the circuit to engage the starter. A new starter will likely solve that issue. A series of rapid clicks would indicate a week battery. You can try repeatedly turning the key to the start position rapidly, sometimes the starter wil start working. You can also try tapping the starter while somebody holds the key in the start position, if the starter engages place it.

1982 corvette:start terminal has power on it constantly ignition switch ok. do they have a start relay if so where is it?

starter problem maybe solenoid which is the only relay for starter. If it won,t turn over try this have a buddy get under the starter with a hammer and somebody else turn the ignition key on and hold it while the buddy taps the center of the starter if it starts up that means the bendex in the is bad.Buy new starter. If it does nothing replace solenoid on the starter.

My blazer trys to start but wont turn over and its not every time some times it will some times it wont. i had the fuel filter changed in it cause someone told me to try that but there is no differece.

by not turning over i`m guessing that you mean the engine won`t crank over,if you mean won`t start when the engine turns over then that is a different path of diagnosis.if you mean that it starts to turn crank over but stops almost immediately then this could be a weak battery,or bad starter with a bad spot in the starter, that`s why it will start sometimes and sometimes not as the starter hits and misses stopping on the bad spot.if you mean it cranks over fine but will not start then this could be a fuel pump going bad,a dirty throttle body,a bad crank of cam sensor, these usually set a code in the computer and sometimes turns on the check engine light sometimes not.you should have the computer checked for codes to see if there is any,or just a wiring problem for the ignition system

1999 Honda Accord, 5 speed

It could either be a BAD starter or a BAD ignition they both would have the same symptoms of a "CLICK" alone. I would most likely lean toward the ignition because the key is difficult to turn but its not all ways true that key is tight because the ignition is bad, although possible. It could just mean a bad ignition cylinder(just the key part why its tight) I want you to do a test for me. With clutch engaged turn key to start position and listen for click on starter in the hood, when trying to start. If you hear starter click then the ignition switch is good. (Before you do this make sure that battery is FULLY CHARGED).STARTER IS AT FAULT. IF no clicking is heard coming from starter check starter fuse and if its good YOU have a BAD ignition switch.
