Do you have a upgraded headlight or other loads? How is the battery voltage while running? Try to unhook nonessential electrics (headlight etc) and see if it still heats up. Possibly a voltage regulator problem?

My first thought would be, given you've checked the usual stuff, is that the gauge of the positive cable to the starter is to small for the current the starter is drawing. Or, the connector at the end of that cable is not making good electrical contact with the wire strands in the cable. Has this cable been replaced? Have you thoroughly inspected the connector on the end of the starter cable? You could also measure the resistance of this cable with an ohmmeter -- if the resistance is not almost zero ohms, this could be a source of the heat. Charlie

Hi, Lilbigbrojoe check the battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary. For this scenario, you will need your service/owners manual if you can't find the best tool you ever bought for your Honda, despair not, for a mere zero $0 you can download another one. For more information about your issue and valuable "FREE" downloads that you will need please click on the blue links below. Good luck and have a wonderful day.

You have the polarity of the battery backward somewhere. Did you replace the starter and hook it up backwards. Difficult but possible. Check your positive and negative on the battery itself.

check if the wire on the starter is fallen off or burnt. It might be touching on part of the chassis or engine and shorting when you try start the car.Is the engine turning over? Put the car in 3rd gear and try pushing it to check if the engine is not seized. If the engine is seized the starter wire will heat up as the starter will not be able to turn the engine.

It almost sounds like something may be wrong with your Ignition switch. Other things to check would be wires going down to starter, wires at starter cellenoid on fire wall.
