Since the wiring differs so much, can you tell us whether the bike is a U.S. model or an International model. U.S. models have three wires for the directional signals, one turn signal wire, one running light wire, one ground (earth) wire. International bikes on have two wires, one turn signal wire, one ground. Usually the turn signal wire is violet and brown.

If nothing exists then just go straight from the rear turn signals and tap in there. When it flashes the front one will also flash.

Three of my four amber color running lights are not working. They work when using the directional but other than that, nothing.

With the factory stock wiring, the rear lights act as turn signals only, not running lights.
The front act as running lights AND turn signals.

For the front, check to see if one of the filaments (I think it's a dual filament bulb) is burned out.

Harley davidson front brake switch

Hi Anonymous, this problem is usually cause by the front brake light switch being out of alignment or the button not retracting all the way keeping your brake light on in a closed circuit, depending on your model year. 1996 and earlier models the right handlebar switch housing had to be tight up against the front brake control housing in order for the front brake light switch button to be fully compressed to stop continuity. In 1997 and later models the button was alot shorter and was more of an alignment issue in the switch housing. Rear brake light switches located in the rear brake line TEE can also fail in the closed circuit condition but extremely rare, usually they fail in an open circuit condition where the brake light is not able to activate. For fuses remove seat and directly behind the battery is a black plastic box. The cover slides up and off revealing the starter relay and the system/fuel pump relay for you injected folks and the various assorted circuit fuses. Can you bypass the axillary light and just have the main headlamp

Sure you can if you don't mind doing a few wiring changes. By "axillary light", I'm assuming you are talking about a light bar on the front of the bike with spot lights on either side. Usually most guys have these lights wired so that they can turn the on and off independently of the headlight and the ignition switch for that matter. But, I guess some people want to run them all the time so they wire them directly to the headlight wiring. I don't have a schematic on that bike so you'll just have to trace the wires out.

Good Luck

Turn signals front and back have stopped working. I think it may be a circuit breaker, but im not sure which one. 1984 iron head sporty

The circuit breaker with the blue wires coming off of it is the one for the lights. If you need a schematic, contact me directly wd4ity@bellsouth.net. Check for voltage at the blue wires on the circuit breaker. Then check all four bulbs. If one bulb is blown, the other one on that side will light up but not blink.

Good Luck

My 1995 FB turn signals have stopped working. My front bulbs with the 2 elements turn on but the turn signals do not. Ive loked under the seat as directed by my Harley buddies but I did not see a fuse box...

I think all your lights are on the same circuit breaker. Contact me directly and I'll send you a trouble shooting chart for your turn signals. You may have a bad turn signal cancelling unit. Contact me at
