I had the same issues. Are you loosing acceleration?
My savage had a clogged muffler. Dump some seafoam and stabilzer in the tank with etlenol treatment in it.
Bad gas??? Put some 91 in it.

there is a coating in fuel tank these bits loosen and go into carbs and block all jets, if you havent done this and this fixes problem you best put an inline fuel filter on bike to stop debris going into carb, these filters are good for a thousand miles i would recommend a car on like they used to have on old minis they are £1.98 on ebay

Jets in the carb may need blowing out,do not try to put anything in them, just use compressed air and solvent, sometimes dirt collects in the float bowl and when the carb is removed for cleaning it finds its way into the jets, sounds like the idle jet is blocked

Have you ever cleaned out the carburetor? Rebuilt it or cleaned it out chemically? Might also have a weak spark - check out your coil.

How long has the bike been sitting? Sounds like the carbs may be gummed up,and in need of a professional cleaning, and re-synchronizing.

1982 suzuki gs650 runs, but not over 300rpm

better check for the ignition coil for proper sparking or igniting of current in the comprssion chamber, check the ignition coil spark plug wire, check the spark plug, check for proper fuel supply in the flow system to Carbs, check for Ignition timing of the bike, or still you cant solve or still worried then dont worry better take the bike to nearest aurhorised Suzuki service centre for better assistance on this problem surely the problem will be solved.
